Bo-Katan Kryze is the real protagonist of The Mandalorian 3
Although the title is clearly The Mandalorian, the third season of the series available on Disney Plus starring Din Djarin seems to give greater prominence to another figure, particularly loved by fans of the Star Wars saga: Bo-Katan Kryze. Starting from the second episode of this season, Bo-Katan has assumed an increasingly central role within the rebirth of the Mandalorians, who after the drama of the Night of a Thousand Tears have dispersed throughout the galaxy. Episodes like The Foundling or The Pirate help make Bo-Katan Kryze the protagonist of The Mandalorian 3, at least on an emotional level.
--> It is certainly no mystery that at the center of this season there is the enhancement of the Mandalorian culture, previously vaguely mentioned so as to leave prominence to the story of little Grogu. This passage having apparently been resolved, the centrality of the Way made itself felt starting from The Book of Boba Fett, thanks to the presence of the famous Darksaber , wielded by Din Djarin. If on the one hand the possession of the legendary sword is essential in Mandalorian culture to claim the role of leader, on the other one cannot help but recognize how certain names have an important specific weight. And if this is true for Bo-Katan Kryze, the same can be said for Paz Vizsla.
The real star of The Mandalorian 3 is Bo-Katan Kryze: she will be able to correct the mistakes of the past to write the future of Mandalore?
History with the Vizsla Clan The Mandalorian Civil War: redemption Why Bo-Katan Kryze is the real protagonist of The Mandalorian 3History with the Vizsla Clan
In The Mandalorian , Paz Vizlsa has appeared since the first season, played by Jon Favreau. Heir to the Vizsla family, the descendants of the Tarre Vizlsa creator of the Darksaber, Paz is part of the Children of the Watch, a staunch supporter of the Way and, at a certain point, an opponent of Din Djarin, when he reveals that he has taken off his helmet. A rivalry which, in The Book of Boba Fett, also leads to a clash between the two, which Din painstakingly won.Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) in Lucasfilm's THE MANDALORIAN, season three, exclusively on Disney+. ..2022 Lucasfilm Ltd. & TM. To change this situation is the episode The Foundling, in which the kidnapping of Paz's son, Ragnar, by a flying saurian leads to a rescue mission at the end of which it is Din himself who saves the boy. However, the most important aspect is that to want this rescue mission was Bo-Katan Kryze. A moment that fans of the franchise lived with particular enthusiasm, considering how The Clone Wars had told the relationship between Bo-Katn and the Vizsla Clan, at the time led by Pre Vizsla.
In the final days of the Republic, Pre Vizsla, governor of Concordia and secret leader of the terrorists known as the Death Watch, had managed to ensnare Bo-Katan, using his attachment to Mandalorian traditions by misrepresenting him to make him his follower, to the point of pushing her to lead a rebellion against the rule of her own sister, Satine Kryze. A choice that led to the death at the hands of Darth Maul not only of Pre Vizsla, but also of Satine, a loss that shocked Bo-Katan leading her to leave the Vizsla Clan and ally with the Jedi, regaining control of Mandalore in the clan's name Kryze.
The Mandalorian Civil War: Redemption
However, with the advent of the Empire, when Bo-Katan refused to submit to Palpatine's regime, support was provided from Coruscant to a minor branch of the Vizlsa clan, Clan Saxon, who became Palapatine's puppet to control Mandalore. This gave rise to a civil war that pitted two branches of the Vizsla clan, the aforementioned Saxon and that of the Wren, who opposed enslavement to the Empire and instead saw in Bo-Katan the true guide of the Mandalorians.-->
At the time of these events, it is not clear what was the position of Paz Vizsla, an aspect not yet clarified even in The Mandalorian, even if his past with Din Djarin seems to reflect what his clan did to the Pre Vizsla times. Paz's strict morals, however, are broken when Bo-Katan proves to be a true guide, agreeing to risk his life to save the kidnapped foundling, a gesture that convinces Paz that Bo-Katan is indeed the guide. which could serve the Mandalorians to return to being a united people.
Why Bo-Katan Kryze is the true protagonist of The Mandalorian 3
Considering the ending of The Pirate, it is evident how The Mandalorian 3 sees Bo-Katan Kryze as the true protagonist of the Mandalorian rebirth. The dialogue with the Gunsmith and Bo-Katan's progressive awareness of her role, net of possession of the Darksaber, make her in the eyes of the Sons of the Watch the worthy heir to the title of Mand'alor, a role that now drives her to embark on a journey among the stars to find his lost brothers. If on the one hand this opening offered by the Armaiola represents an important recognition, at least within the Sons of the Ronda, it remains see how the other clans see the legitimacy of Bo-Katan's claim, at least as long as the Darksaber is possessed by Din Djarin. But it cannot be ignored that a mystical presence such as the appearance of the mythosaurus in the mines of Mandalore plays an essential and far from minor role in making Bo-Katan the best candidate for the title of Mand'alor.
