Gaming TV (over 55 inches) | The best of 2023
Have you always dreamed of a TV over 55 inches for gaming? Come on, who has never done it! Screens with a rather large diagonal, therefore exceeding even 55 inches, allow you to enjoy an unprecedented immersion, whether you choose the latest story-driven adventure from PlayStation, or whether you choose a film or a TV series among the services by subscription.
In this new update dated March 2023, we have not added new products, but checked all the links to ensure safe purchases at the best price. We will not fail to keep the guide updated should we deem it appropriate to replace some of the products currently listed.
In any case, the main focus remains gaming. As always, we have selected screens equipped with all the necessary features to enjoy a top-level gaming experience. We remind you that at the end of the article, as always, you will find all the information in detail, but we still want to give you a little something already in this introduction. There are four main features to eye on: the 4K resolution, the HDMI 2.1 inputs and, consequently, a refresh rate of 120, the presence of HDR and, finally, the always useful VRR. With this mix of technologies, your experience will be smooth and uncompromising. The results vary from model to model, clearly, and it is no coincidence that we have selected screens aimed at different price ranges, so that you can find the most suitable for your needs, without any hitches.
As you may have noticed, in recent months we have prepared useful guides to recommend the most suitable products to enjoy the new generation, from consoles to video cards: we have suggested monitors, cheap and not only, and various 4K TVs! Today, however, as you can easily guess, we are going to suggest the most impressive screens. Let's get started now!
Can we not start with LG? We have repeated it several times on these pages: at the moment it is among the most launched companies in the gaming sector, as demonstrated by their televisions equipped with cutting-edge technologies, from VRR in all guises, therefore Free-Sync or Free-Sync Premium and G-Sync, arriving at HDR and many other level features. Among other things, the C2, unlike the C1, is equipped with an EVO OLED panel, which ensures greater peak brightness and better color rendering.
Specifically, we are talking about an OLED screen, which in this case we offer in its most expensive versions, 77″ and 83″, very important diagonals that will allow you to fully enjoy story-driven games and even competitive ones, considering the very low latency and the care taken for gaming. LG C2 doesn't even tell you from an aesthetic point of view: the feet, easy to install and very minimal, ensure good stability to the panel and guarantee exceptional aesthetics. It really doesn't get better than this: if the budget doesn't scare you (not too exaggerated, actually), you'll take home the most complete solution ever to enjoy next-generation gaming (there's even a Dolby Vision mode specially designed for gaming!)

Now let's move on to Sony, once again with an OLED model. A80K is, by far, one of the best screens released in recent months: it supports VRR and 120Hz in 4K and, in essence, allows you to get the most out of the new consoles, only giving up gaming in Dolby Vision (which you can find on LG LC2, being an Xbox partner TV), which is not even supported by PS5, so not bad. Aesthetically, it's a TV that knows its stuff: it's minimal, like many other models, and it has feet that allow the TV to remain stable without sacrificing aesthetics. A support that is therefore unobtrusive and not bulky at all.
An absolute Sony tradition, the screen arrives with a respectable factory calibration, meaning that all you have to do is connect it to the power outlet and enjoy the crazy images (not a small thing!). The audio and design are also of a good standard; as regards the dimensions, however, we suggest the 77″ version, especially when on a discount, considering the quality-price ratio. Therefore, what to say? If you are a lucky PS5 owner and, between one session and another, you also love to enjoy a good film or TV series, this model is definitely for you.

Now we come to Samsung, with a QLED model completely devoted to the game. The peculiarity of these screens is that they provide a contrast rendering clearly higher than the average and close to OLEDs (although there is a considerable gap). In fact, the darkest shades appear dimly lit and the brightest areas offer a notable peak in nits. One of the best features of this panel, in addition to the already widely discussed improvements related to gaming, is HDR, capable of going up to a maximum peak of 2000 nits, offering very rich images and vibrant colors. Furthermore, we remind you that this TV is currently one of the very few models to support the Game Pass app, which allows you to play extraordinary titles without the help of an Xbox console. Quick and easy: open the app, take a controller and you're done!
Still with regard to gaming, keep in mind that there are TVs that can completely skip the calibration that is usually required at all inside games, this is because Sony and other companies are joining forces to remedy the problem. Samsung, just like LG TVs, supports this function called HGiG which, where possible, offers a much higher HDR rendering and close to the developers' original idea.

Still in the Sony house, still a “perfect for PS5” TV, as labeled by the same company. In fact, this TV has all the features necessary to get the best out of PS5, therefore it supports 4K at 120Hz, the auto HDR function that allows the screen to automatically calibrate the HDR of the console, and the much talked about VRR. Unlike the previous model, it is an LED screen equipped with Local Dimming, therefore without any risk of burn-in, a real consolation for many gamers. Thanks to the use of this technology, the rendering of blacks certainly does not come close to that of OLEDs, but remains far superior and preferable to that of many other LED models, and plays great with QLEDs.
Regarding the dimensions, in this case it is also possible to go up to 100″, but renouncing some features such as the new XR processor. An excessive compromise, which we suggest not to marry. To keep an eye on, in fact, is the 75″ version that you find below, equipped with the latest technology and with a good quality-price ratio. Obviously, as also specified for the A90K, being a Sony TV you will also benefit in this case from an excellent factory calibration and a fairly premium design, certainly superior to what was done in the past with models in the same category.

We close our roundup of giant TVs with a model extremely cheap. This model, equipped with NanoCell technology, offers everything needed to fully appreciate the new generation consoles but at an exceptional price: around €1,699 for a huge 75″ television, with which to appreciate even more the most cinematic experiences. Moreover, you often find it at a discount at €965, so keep an eye on the links below!
For the rest, as mentioned, despite the reduced price there is everything you need, so you will take home an updated screen, ready to take advantage of your flaming consoles or, why not? Your video cards. You will therefore find a 4K resolution capable of going up to 120Hz, VRR, AMD Free-Sync and G-Sync, HGiG and so on and so forth. Even the design, clearly, although less valuable than LG's top-of-the-range models, is honestly sure to make you look great in the living room!

Well, make a clarification: to date, the HDR experience in gaming it's a bit dirty in the sense that there isn't a good collaboration between screen, console and software. That's why HGiG was launched a few years ago, born from the union of all the best-known TV manufacturers to solve these problems. Only in this way, in fact, will you get excellent communication between the devices and it will not be necessary to manually calibrate HDR on each individual video game (provided that the software in question supports the technology, of course). That said, all the models listed in the guide offer excellent HDR rendering, so don't be afraid to choose.
Google TV: you will find this effective operating system on board Sony TVs , then of the A80K and X90K models. Obviously worked on by Google, it appears as an incredibly cleaner version of Android TV, which therefore allows you to access without too much difficulty a myriad of very famous apps, from Netflix, Disney +, Amazon Prime Video, and so on. Tizen : Renewed compared to previous versions, to the point that the company itself calls it "Samsung Hub", this operating system has finally achieved the speed and clarity that we would expect from a TV of this category. Renewed in design, it therefore ensures excellent navigability and compatibility with all the best-known apps!

How to choose the best TV for gaming
HDMI 2.0 or 2.1?
Since consoles fully support the new HDMI 2.1 formats, our advice is to bet on TVs with this feature, unless you necessarily have to compromise due to budget. HDMI 2.1, in fact, allows you to enjoy 4K images at 120Hz and with chroma 444, which is the best of the best in terms of color rendering. Then there are also other features such as ALLM and VRR, which drastically reduce input lag and screen tearing. Therefore, if you are avid gamers and aim for the best, absolutely HDMI 2.1!Input lag and HDR
Once you have decided on the HDMI format, it is time to choose a panel that also has a low input lag (fortunately today quite reduced even on TV) and that supports the most common HDR formats. The most common in the gaming field is HDR10; in the background, but it is completely in an experimental phase and concerns exclusively Xbox, Dolby Vision (the latter works great on LG TVs).Well, make a clarification: to date, the HDR experience in gaming it's a bit dirty in the sense that there isn't a good collaboration between screen, console and software.
Audio and minimal design
We know: focusing on audio can also seem silly, given the increasingly widespread habit of adding a good audio system to your television. However, if you really don't feel like spending more money on a good soundbar, we recommend taking into consideration Sony TVs, which have always been characterized by respectable acoustic performance, including all the most common formats, starting from DD and Dolby Atmos . As for the design, however, the goal is to focus on a super minimal design, so as to camouflage everything and give full prominence to your PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.Operating system
The focus of the guide is clearly gaming, but how can we not also consider the other incredible aspects of these televisions? Exactly, because nowadays the TV is a crazy hub that allows us to download apps, watch movies and TV series, take advantage of subscription services, and much more. To simplify all these operations, you need a good operating system, which you will find in large part in all the models selected in the guide.Google TV: you will find this effective operating system on board Sony TVs , then of the A80K and X90K models. Obviously worked on by Google, it appears as an incredibly cleaner version of Android TV, which therefore allows you to access without too much difficulty a myriad of very famous apps, from Netflix, Disney +, Amazon Prime Video, and so on.
