Samsung Galaxy S23 vs S23+ vs S23 Ultra, which one to choose?
Samsung Galaxy S23 vs S23+ vs S23 Ultra
Fresh from the presentation and entering the mobile landscape of 2023, we decided to immediately compare the new members of the Samsung Galaxy S23 family for the new year.
Formula that wins not we change, so this is how Samsung presented three new smartphones for its Galaxy S line for this 2023 too, confirming the 2022 system and giving users different dimensional (and functional) options to choose from. But which model will best suit your needs? And above all, is it worth spending more on the "major" models?
Samsung Galaxy S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra: hard to beat, also thanks to the return of Qualcomm!

Unlike last year, the design language of the three models follows common lines both in the Ultra variant and in the two "standard" proposals.Compared to the S22 range, this year Samsung wanted to focus more of its design efforts not so much on making the new more expensive model even more extreme (which practically shares and lines of its predecessor hours) but in making the basic models even better and more similar to Ultra.
); In fact, net of the more squared and sharp lines that remain the prerogative of the S23 Ultra, in fact, the S23 and S23+ see their general aesthetic language as more similar to their older brother than last year. This element is especially linked to the new photographic block, equipped with different lenses each with its own contained protrusion, which now unites the entire new Galaxy S23 series, at least visually.
As for the materials, we are in front of the best that the market can offer, with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and Armor Aluminum glass covers, for top aesthetic and functional performance as per Samsung tradition.
The inch rating proposals remain unchanged, which includes a base with S23 and its 6.1″, passing through the 6.6″ of the S23+ up to the 6.8″ of the Ultra model. Unlike last year, however, the base and Plus models share the maximum brightness of a good 1750 nits peak with the Ultra.
Processor and battery
Perhaps the most interesting area, together to the photographic sector, capable of truly differentiating the new Galaxy S23 family from the S22, is certainly linked to the beating heart of these new pocket computers. The top-of-the-range products of the Galaxy S line arrive also in our country with the top-of-the-range processor made by Qualcomm on board. It is a clear turnaround compared to the past, with the proprietary Exynos processors which are therefore (at least temporarily) replaced by an alternative that has always been indicated as the favorite by users.
On board all models Galaxy S23 is therefore installed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy processor, a slightly faster variant of the new Qualcomm chip, with promises of transversal improvements in almost all fundamentals compared to the previous generation.
One of the most important improvements expected is certainly linked to the battery compartment, with a low autonomy that could finally become just a bad memory thanks to the optimizations guaranteed by the new chip installed in the new S23 series and the new, more capacious cells of the basic and Plus models.
Samsung has confirmed and improved the technical data relating to the batteries of the new smartphones, therefore the framework for definitively overcoming the anxieties charging could finally be complete. The batteries are in fact respectively 3900mAh for the smaller S23, a good 4700mAh for the S23+ proposal and 5000mAh for the S23 Ultra.
Cameras
The 200MP in a smartphone are finally a reality even for it concerns the South Korean manufacturer. Even if only for the Ultra variant, Samsung has in fact decided to clear through customs this umpteenth hardware innovation capable, in the company's aims, of establishing new standards for smartphone photography, especially when it comes to night photography.Starting in order, however, even the setups of the S23 and S23+, albeit without the 200MP, see an update compared to the past, especially as regards stabilization and focus. Speaking specifically of sensors, the new Samsung Galaxy S23 and S23+ are composed as follows:
Main sensor: 50MP, OIS, f/1.8 Ultra-wide angle sensor: 12MP, f/2.2 Telephoto lens: 10MP, 3x optical zoom, f /2.4 Front camera: 12MP, f/2.2 Also this year the 10x optical zoom option remains the prerogative of the Ultra variant, with the camera dedicated to this function which therefore joins the list of "exclusivity" reserved for this model, together obviously also to the new 200MP ISOCELL HP2 main sensor.
Why choose Galaxy S23
This year perhaps the most interesting model for the general public will be the S23. The promises of better autonomy and responsiveness guaranteed by the new Qualcomm processor, combined with one of the most compact bodies left in the entire smartphone panorama, could be a business card capable of splitting the market.Although not equipped of the best technology available, it can also have its say thanks to the software support that Samsung will guarantee in the years to come, guaranteeing a sort of insurance for lovers of compact smartphones who see the options diminishing year after year.
Why choose Galaxy S23+
The "Plus" variant of Galaxy S smartphones is historically the most difficult to frame. Also this year, thanks to a technical data sheet capable of being absolutely respectable but still far from the level guaranteed by the Ultra model, it could find it difficult to make its way among users. However, there remains a proposal capable of guarantee one of the best overall screen-dimensions ratio, thanks to an optimization of the frames and thickness of absolute respect for a 6.6″ smartphone.
It is dedicated to those who evaluate the general S23 package but need of increased battery and are not looking for a compact device. Almost top camera and display complete a general package that at the right price with promotions could finally convince more than someone not to invest the extra budget for the Ultra model.
