It must be emphasized that on Hive the fundamental security measures and accessibility functions expected from traditional social networks are not yet present. For Android smartphone owners, it may be worth waiting for an update, since the recently released Hive app has a lot of bugs, many more than the iOS version. How to sign up

Download Hive Social from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. Open the app and tap on " Create an account ". On the next page, you can choose whether to create a profile using your email address, your phone number, or using your Apple or Google credentials. The central tab – the one indicated by a circle with the “ + ” – is used to compose your posts. The next tab –  marked by a bell icon – is dedicated to notifications, while the last one on the right allows you to access your profile.

Tips for newcomers

If you have trouble signing up via email, try using your phone number.

Adult content is allowed on the app, but you need to enable it first. Visit your profile page, tap the settings cog, choose Privacy and Safety, then tap the Mature Content tab and slide the toggle to the right. Posts containing nudity must be marked as Nsfw ( not safe for work ).

On the Privacy and Safety page, you can make your account private, so that it is only visible to your followers. From here you can also mute specific keywords (" Hidden Words "), control who can comment on your posts and block accounts.

From the settings page, tap Music to link your account to Spotify or Apple Music and choose a song to accompany your profile. You can make it play automatically when the profile page is opened, and consider it as your presentation soundtrack. The first song is free, the rest of the songs must be purchased.

Tap the question mark icon on a profile you follow to direct a public question to that account.

When editing your profile, you can set the pronouns you prefer to be addressed by so that they are only visible to a specific audience.
