The absence of Abomination in Thunderbolts has more than one meaning
After the announcement of the formation of anti-heroes that will be at the center of Thunderbolts, a film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that we will see in Phase Five of the franchise, many fans of the saga have wondered why within this atypical team is not present one of the great characters recently rescued from Phase One of the Marvel Cinematic Univers, namely Emil Blonsky (Tim Roth), aka Abomination. During the D23 Expo, the incredible list of confirmations of what was announced at San Diego Comic-Con and the presentation of new chapters of the saga, such as Werewolf by Night, monopolized the attention, but it was not long before they started. to ask why Abomination was not part of the Thunderbolts.

Behind the absence of Abomination in Thunderbolts there are several motivations
After his first appearance in The Incredible Hulk (2008), or at the dawn of the franchise, Emil Blonsky's alter ego was lost track until his return to the scene of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, where the nemesis of the Jade Giant was defended in a curious proceeding for his release from none other than Bruce Banner's cousin, Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany), who became She-Hulk.A presence like that of Abomination in the Thunderbolts, although of sure impact, would however risk creating an imbalance within this formation. Given that Blonsky's fate has not yet been clearly defined in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, his path of redemption could be an essential step in the character's history, which through this new choice of life could also come out in a way definitive from the Marvel Cineamtic Universe. However, it remains evident that its possible presence within Thunderbolts would represent a potential element of rupture within a dynamic which, considering the names present, melts an already precarious equilibrium.
Considering what we have seen in previous Marvel Cinematic Universe chapters such as Black Widow and The Falcon & The Winter Soldier, he seems confident that Thunderbolts' narrative tenor will see the formation of an ideal intervention team for black ops missions, as in the style of Yelena Belova, Winter Soldier, U.S. Agent and Taskmaster, a concept that leaves little room for maneuver for a being with superhuman strength like Abomination.
