Hogwarts Legacy was shown at Gamescom 2022 with a new trailer, as promised by Warner Bros. after the news of the postponement a few days ago. The protagonist of the video is Sebastian Sallow, one of the characters we will meet during the game's campaign and who secretly practices the Dark Arts.

"The more we learn about Salazar Slytherin and the Dark Arts, the better it will be for us", we hear it said at the beginning of the video. "A spell that could save your life shouldn't be forbidden. Hogwarts Legacy, a horde of undead Besides Sebastian, there is no doubt that the protagonist of the video is one of the Unforgivable Curses , the Cruciatus curse. That is the spell that is uttered by the game's characters, at one point, and which apparently allows them to open one of the dungeon doors that they have decided to explore in search of the secrets of Salazar Slytherin.

Harry Potter fans remember the Cruciatus Curse due to Neville Longbottom's dramatic past, whose parents fell victim to the curse inflicted on him by Bellatrix and her fellow Death Eaters, determined to have the couple reveal the secrets of the Order of the Phoenix. The pain caused by the spell was such that Frank and Alice Longbottom went insane.

In the trailer, the very fact of using the Dark Arts proves to be a double-edged sword, as it allows Sebastian Sallow to enter the labyrinth and get in touch with its secrets, but at the same time awaken a horde of undead who attack the student and give life to a spectacular battle with blows of magic. "The Dark Arts seem harmless ... until it's too late", one of the characters in the video says not by chance.

Let's imagine that in Hogwarts Legacy we will also find the other two Unforgivable Curses, specifically the Curse Deadly Avada Kedavra, which causes immediate death of the victim and is often used by Death Eaters, as well as the dark lord Voldemort; and the Imperius Curse, which allows you to control the target's mind.

A world full of mysteries

Hogwarts Legacy, Sebastian Sallow casts a spell As already known, Hogwarts Legacy will not see us exclusively grappling with the internal dynamics of the famous School of Magic in an unprecedented historical context, that of the nineteenth century. The character that we will be able to create and his friends will in fact push themselves to explore the scenario that surrounds the castle and which, apparently, hides disturbing mysteries.

The Gamescom 2022 trailer on the one hand confirms the commitment to represent in the adventure all the elements that have contributed to the success of the Wizarding World, perhaps even with a pinch of coherence more than the cinematographic reductions (see precisely the use of the Dark Arts); on the other hand, it provides a taste of the system of choices and consequences that will not fail to enrich the experience.

Hogwarts Legacy, a hell of fire and spiders The premises are therefore excellent, but we already knew it: sorry to have learned of the decision to postpone the release of the game to February 10, 2023 (with the Nintendo Switch version that does not yet have a date), but the project is confirmed as solid and very inspired on an artistic level.
