The new Marvel trailers and the details of phase 5 and 6
Last weekend, Hall H of San Diego Comic-Con was the epicenter of a revelation of enormous proportions, at least for the Marvel world. Three years after unveiling the so-called phase 4 (currently in progress), Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has revealed what he will expect in the next few years regarding phases 5 and 6. Along with the fourth cycle of titles, this entire sequel to films and TV series is defined as The Multiverse Saga, referring to the multiple parallel dimensions recently introduced in Loki, Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness. Through new sequels and sensational announcements (such as the new season of Daredevil or the movie Thunderbolts), we will arrive in 2025 with a double filmic event, the two Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, which will bring to completion and probably to the extreme. consequences all the stories that will develop over the next three and a half years. For a summary of all the titles, scroll to the bottom of the article, otherwise below you will find all the new trailers (those of She-Hulk and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in primis) and the previews on the various upcoming productions:
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Content This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.
The first Marvel title to hit screens in chronological order will be She-Hulk: Attorney at Law , the new Disney + series dedicated to Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany), cousin of Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) who from him acquires the ability to transform into a huge green creature. She is a lawyer by profession, but she will be called upon to defend Emil Blonsky (Tim Roth) aka Abomination, Hulk's historical rival. But we will also see Wong (Benedict Wong), the very strong Titania (Jameela Jamal) and, from some that can be guessed in the last seconds, the return of Daredevil (Charlie Cox). The series debuts in streaming on August 17th.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Content This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.
Among the most exciting previews there is certainly that of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The sequel to the film, once again directed by Ryan Cogler, has to deal with the disappearance of Chadwick Boseman, the actor who played King T'Challa / Black Panther. So we see funeral processions, sister Shuri (Letitia Wright) in tears and mother Ramonda (Angela Bassett) screaming: “I am the queen of the most powerful nation in the world and my whole family has disappeared: have I not sacrificed enough? ". At the end of the teaser, however, we see a new mysterious figure wearing the role of Black Panther and even before the entire kingdom of Wakanda preparing for the fight against Atlantis, led by you Namor (Tenoch Huerta). Wakanda Forever will be released in November 2022 and will mark the end of MCU Phase 4.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Content This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.
The fifth phase of the Marvel saga will officially open Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, arriving in February 2023. Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly will return as Ant-Man and Wasp, in fact, flanked by Kathryn Newton, who she plays the more adult version of Cassie, the daughter of Scott Lang / Ant-Man. Above all, the film will see as the main villain Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Mayor: a version of him from an alternate dimension, named The One Who Remains, was killed in the Disney + Loki series. In the trailer screened at Comic-Con we also see the terrible Modok, already introduced in an ad hoc animated series (already canceled after a season), and the mysterious character played by none other than Bill Murray.
Secret Invasion Between the third Ant-Man and the third Guardians all attention will go to the Disney + Secret Invasion series, which will see the return of Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders as Nick Fury and Maria Hill. But we will also see Ben Mendelsohn (the Skrull called Talos), Don Cheadle (James Rhodes / War Machine), Martin Freeman (Everett K. Ross) and two very popular actresses like Emilia Clarke and Olivia Coleman. It seems that the whole series will have a decidedly dark tone and could lay the groundwork for a very dark and almost anti-heroic phase of the following titles.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3 San Diego were also able to see the first preview of James Gunn's new film, Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3, which the director has assured to be the latest as far as he is concerned: "But not everyone dies," he said. specified. In the anticipation we see Gamora (Zoe Saldana) completely oblivious of the other Guardians, while Rocket (Bradley Cooper) investigates his origins which will be the real engine of the film. In addition, we see the introduction of Adam Warlok (Will Poulter), the very blond and very powerful artificial being created precisely to destroy the Guardians. It was then confirmed that Maria Balakova, seen in Borat 2, will give the voice to the mythical character of Cosmo the space dog. The film will be released in theaters in May 2023.
The rest of Phase 5 In the second half of 2023 we will see the debut of the Disney + Echo series, with Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) returning to the Hawkeye spin-off, and the second season of Loki, while the year will end with the Ironheart series, dedicated to the young heroine Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) already introduced in Black Panther 2; the sequel The Marvels in July with Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) and Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani); and the reboot film Blade, starring Mahershala Ali. Between the end of 2023 and the first half of 2024 we will see two other highly anticipated serial titles, namely Agatha: Coven of Chaos, a spin-off of Wandavision on Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn), and Daredevil: Born Again, with the return of Matthew Murdock by Charlie Cox after his Netflix interlude. But phase 5 will start at the end with two important films: the first is Captain America: New World Order (May 2024), which will see the official baptism of Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) in the role of Captain America, and the novelty Thunderbolts ( July 2024), dedicated to the group of anti-heroes that appeared in the comics. Feige has not revealed any protagonist of the latter but it is likely that we will see the return of Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl) and perhaps other figures introduced in various ways, such as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) and John Walker (Wyatt Russell).
Phase 6 Kevin Feige's announcements have gone so far as to outline the sixth phase of the MCU, the one that will then definitively close the Multiverse Saga. It will be inaugurated by the long-awaited Fantastic 4 reboot, which will debut in November 2024 and will be - apparently to guess - fundamental for the following films. This phase, in fact, will last less than a year and will mainly consist of two new Avengers films: to be released in May 2025, the first will be Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, which will see the return of Mayors' Kang and probably also one of his ancestry (perhaps, if you stick to the comic series of the same title, son Scarlet Centurion).
After a few months, in November 2025, it will be the turn of Avengers: Secret Wars, itself taken from a very important comic series that sees the incursion of Earth-616 (our "reality") and Earth-1610 (the alternate so-called “Ultimate” universe), resulting in the destruction of both planets and with superheroes on both sides intent on saving the universe on a planet called Battleworld. It's hard to know how faithful the film will be to the print miniseries, but what's interesting considering is that, after that comic book event, Marvel opted for an almost complete reboot of its storylines: could it also happen in the cinematic universe?
In any case, here is a summary of all the releases announced between now and 2025:
