The map of the universities most funded by the NRP for research

Research in the university sector The first of the two measures provides for the funding of 2,500 three-year doctoral scholarships, for an amount equal to 60,000 euros each. The sums are disbursed as part of the investment 3.4 Education and advanced university skills, which will finance 100 dedicated to the digital and environmental transition. But also of investment 4.1 Extension of the number of research doctorates and innovative doctorates for public administration and cultural heritage.
In this second case, 2,400 doctoral scholarships are financed, divided between the so-called Pnrr research doctorates (1,200), or dedicated to areas of interest of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. Here if you don't see the graph Each bubble represents a university and the greater the number of PhD scholarships funded for the university in question, the greater the number. The filter at the bottom (top left for desk readers) allows you to show only the universities that are located in a specific region. All research projects must be activated in the 2022/2023 academic year.
From research to business The issue of technology transfer is one of the issues that are addressed by the NRP. The funds disbursed in area 3.3 go in this direction, dedicated to the introduction of innovative doctorates that respond to the innovation needs of companies and promote the recruitment of researchers by companies.
The aim is to activate PhDs in the so-called Key Enabling Technologies. The reference is to a group of technologies that the European Commission has identified as enabling in the field of research, such as artificial intelligence and nanotechnologies.
The idea is to involve companies, which will have to bear half the costs of the individual scholarships. A circumstance that, in fact, raises the budget to 300 million euros. This map shows, university by university, the sums allocated to each university for the financing of a total number of 500 three-year doctoral scholarships.

Here if you don't see the graph As in the previous map, each bubble corresponds to a university and the filter at the bottom (top left for desk readers) allows you to zoom in on a single region . This time, however, the dimensions are related to the amount of funds made available by the NRP. A sum which, as mentioned, must be supplemented by a similar amount made available by the companies involved in the project. Companies that will have to be identified by individual universities.
Of the 5,000 funded PhD scholarships, 2,000 will be provided by university bodies based in the southern regions. Also in this case, all the courses will start within the 2022/2023 academic year.
