Here is what is missing from the conclusion of Olympia Kyklos by Mari Yamazaki
As we all know, Mari Yamazaki's Olympia Kyklos manga (author of remarkable historical works such as Thermae Romae from Star Comics and Plinius from Flashbook), currently being published in our country for the Star Comics publishing house, is about to end. According to this year's 13th issue of Shueisha's Grand Jump magazine, the manga will conclude in three chapters that will be serialized for three consecutive issues. So the story should end in the 16th issue of the magazine, July 20.
This is the plot:
Olympia Kyklos departs from ancient Greece to reach the present day. It begins by telling the story of the Greek painter Demetrius, who illustrates scenes of daily life and sports, myths and legends on the amphorae. Despite being inclined to sport but averse to competition, he is chosen to represent his village in a competition that will decide the fate of his people. Frightened and worried, he hides in a clay pot, which is struck by lightning. Demetrius remains unharmed but, coming out of the pot, he realizes that he was catapulted into the middle of the Tokyo Olympics in 1964. Yes, somehow he ended up in Tokyo in 1964! Of course, Demetrios has no idea what Japan is. What will become of him?
We remind you that the anime adaptation of the manga Thermae Romae Novae, read our review in this article, debuted worldwide on March 28 on Netflix. Also created by Mari Yamazaki, the story tells the journey through time of Lucius, a bathroom designer in the Roman Empire who arrives in today's Japan, where he learns about the culture of Japanese spas.
