A BioWare ex is heavily criticizing the industry
Now more than ever, game developers are trying to make sure they don't release games that aren't ready or perfectly optimized. The growing number of delays we've seen from stocks across the industry can be attributed to two main factors: the Covid 19 pandemic and the dire launch of Cyberpunk 2077. However, prior to CD Projekt RED's RPG, another major title received a similar reception due to the state in which it was launched. Former BioWare boss Aaryn Flynn was in charge of construction on Anthem upon its release. However, the experience, coupled with the current climate in the industry, has provided Flynn with an interesting perspective.
"I think players are ultimately quite honest," said Flynn, who is now the CEO of Inflexion Games, in an interview with VGC. “They want the games to be great, that they are refined, and that the experiences are timely. I think our industry has delivered insufficient results and made too many promises about some of these things. A lot of times when you see players disappointed, it's often because a studio or team has set a goal they can't achieve. "| ); }
“It's about being honest about these things and just saying, 'this is where we're at… some of these things are difficult and we would rather spend a little more time creating something exceptional rather than something that is compromised from the start, '”the former BioWare continued. Of course, the developer's point of view could also be shared by many other professionals in the sector.
