Who won the David di Donatello 2022
It was the hand of God who won the David di Donatello 2022: the film by Paolo Sorrentino, produced by Netflix, won the evening by taking home 5 statuettes, including the prestigious best film and best director, but also best photography, best supporting actress for Teresa Saponangelo and David Giovani. Freaks Out by Gabriele Mainetti also held the spotlight, which won six wins, mainly in the technical categories: best production, best photography (ex aequo with È stato la mano di Dio), scenography, make-up, costumes and special effects. On the other hand, Me against You The Film: The Mystery of the Enchanted School directed by Gianluca Leuzzi was the winner of the spectator's David, which marks the highest grossing of the year just past.
During the evening hosted by Carlo Conti and Drusilla Foer live on Rai 1, various special prizes were also awarded: the David for Lifetime Achievement went to Giovanna Ralli, great actress of our cinema, with sixty years of interpretations behind him alongside the major Italian directors and performers, including Monicelli, Scola, De Sica, Gassman, Totò and many others. A special David was also awarded to Sabrina Ferilli, for her popularity on the big screen and beyond, and another to Antonio Capuano, a Neapolitan director who has signed films such as Luna rossa and Mario's war, and who was one of the inspirations from Sorrentino himself, who said: “'Do not disunite yourself' is a phrase [which became famous in It was the hand of God] that really said to me”.
