2FA - What is two-factor authentication and why is it important
2FA is the acronym for "two-factor authentication", and all of us, more or less consciously, have to deal with it, some more frequently than others. In this article, we want to talk about what it is, how it works, what types of 2FA exist, how safe this method is, when to activate it and when it is possible to do without it.
The purpose of two-factor authentication to protect users from attackers who would like to steal access data to a system or service to which we are subscribed and, consequently, access by pretending to be us or sell the data to some other person. For example, if our e-mail inbox is breached, it is possible that the person responsible for the attack retrieves other information from our e-mail, or that he uses our address to retrieve further information by exploiting our identity. And if a situation like this occurs with our bank account, you can imagine the dire consequences.
