Windows 10 20H2 close to goodbye, upgrade your PCs!
Windows 10 20H2 close to goodbye
Official support for Windows 10 20H2 will end in a month, May 10, 2022, as mentioned by Microsoft on its support site. The achievement of the EOS (end of service) concerns the 20H2 versions of Windows 10 Home, Pro, Pro Education and Pro for Workstations, which consequently will no longer receive monthly security updates starting from the end of support date. Microsoft added that 20H2 versions of Windows 10 Enterprise, Education and IoT Enterprise will reach end of support on May 9, 2023.To maintain support, users will need to upgrade to later versions of Windows 10 , a particularly important aspect for companies, since security updates are vital for the protection of their systems. In fact, updates of this type also and above all serve to neutralize any security vulnerabilities found on the operating system which, if not corrected promptly, could be exploited by malicious people to violate the machines concerned.
Windows 10 is still very popular with users
But what will happen to the systems affected by these announcements? Before the dates set by Microsoft for EOS, unmanaged systems and non-corporate devices will simply undergo a "forced" update to the latest versions of Windows 10 via Windows Update. In this way, the company wants to ensure that all its users do not interrupt the security updates.
The transition to Windows 10 21H2 will therefore be automatic, but if you have not already installed it, you can go to Settings> Windows Update and click "Check for updates" to proceed with the download and installation of the latest Windows 10 updates. Alternatively, you can check if you meet the requirements to upgrade to Windows 11.
