Strange Skyrim Bug Turns Player into a Dovahkiin Horse
The Elder Scrolls player u/Sherlock_DaVinci discovered a weird, yet hilarious Skyrim bug that turned his player character from a Dovahkiin into a horse.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has been around for over a decade now, but there is truly no shortage of new experiences to be had. Whether it’s a new piece of lore, a previously undiscovered cave, or an unintended “feature,” players have continued to find joy in Skyrim‘s albeit wonky world.
Even now, one Skyrim player came across a unique bug that completely changed their Dovahkiin player character – not just the character’s outfit, but the very model (and species!) itself.

Right when you think you’ve seen every The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim bug, a new one inevitably rolls around. Or, in this case, gallops around. When u/Sherlock_DaVinci loaded up their Skyrim game, they were in for a more equine adventure than they anticipated.
They attempted to mount their horse, but the game unexpectedly glitched. It decided that the player was not, in fact, the warrior u/Sherlock_DaVinci had built, but rather the very horse they were trying to mount. The resulting Skyrim bug is equal parts strange and hilarious, as the player just prances around the world. Check out the full clip below:
The player commented that their character simply disappeared when they first tried to mount their horse. After running around, trying to dismount, and trying to attack, they realized that their very player model was replaced by the horse’s. Others commented on the post, jokingly calling the bug the player the “Equine-borne.” Ironically, many enjoyed the thought of a horse-centered Skyrim game. Maybe someone out there will replicate the bug for a full horse playthrough.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is available to play on PC, PS3, PS4, PS5, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. The Elder Scrolls VI was originally announced in 2018, though any concrete release date is yet to be announced.
