Ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbo | Review
All versions are shared by the presence of a charging and emptying base, which allows to limit at most human interactions; the presence of a base allows, in fact, to empty the dirt accumulated inside the robot and thus avoid the continuous mechanical emptying actions required by other solutions. The main differences between Omni, Turbo and Plus are quite marked and it is precisely this aspect that makes the range complete and difficult to overlap:
Among the common aspects we find the AIVI 3D mapping system, the YIKO voice assistant, the high suction capacity, the 5200 mAh battery and, of course, the application for Android and iOS.
How it's made
Deebot X1 Turbo is a rather classic robot vacuum cleaner in the shape, has a circular body with a diameter of 33 centimeters, compact enough to easily pass under most beds, sofas and furniture in the house. Using it, on trial, both in the office and in the home, we saw it scurry under desks, shelving and drawer units without any problem. The upper part has a glossy plastic finish, almost totally smooth, interrupted by the start button, with soft touch button, and by the turret that integrates the laser sensor.Also in the upper section we find the lid, with magnetic coupling, which hides the powder tank (about 400 ml of capacity), the power switch and the button for pairing the Wi- Fi. The "classic" comb present in most Ecovacs is absent, now inserted directly into the emptying base.
In the lower part there are several sensors able not only to map the surfaces traveled, but also to recognize high differences in height like stairs and steps; There is also a camera system that allows you to view on the screen what is in front of our robot. This is a very useful function, especially for those who, like myself, find themselves cleaning the house when they are in the office or simply away; in this way, in case of difficulty, it is possible to have an immediate confirmation of the problem. The message "I am blocked" will no longer be a simple and sterile communication, now it is possible to check "with your own eyes" the difficulty encountered and also to interact using the microphone (for example by talking to your pets). The lower area, on the other hand, includes the actual suction brush positioned in the center, two side brushes necessary to convey the dirt and two circular cloths used for washing the floors.
How to use it
Ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbo, like most robot vacuum cleaners, is able to operate in total autonomy already "out-of-the-box" once the battery is charged but, to fully exploit its potential, it is advisable to download the free Ecovacs Home application and map the environment to be cleaned.The procedure for adding X1 Turbo to devices is simple and totally guided; we only remind you that a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network is required, otherwise correct operation is not guaranteed. Once the application has been downloaded and configured, after registering, you will be able to access all the functions. To name a few, you can adjust: the suction power, set the water flow for cleaning, automatic adaptation to different surfaces and the planning of cleaning programs (routine).
With the first cleaning complete, it is possible to map the floor (s) and, once finished, the application will create some areas, so as to allow a more capillary, limited and dedicated cleaning. Eventually it is possible to select only some precise and targeted areas to be cleaned on the spot or more frequently; such as passageways, kitchens, bathrooms etc.
Ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbo “can speak”, a feature that you will notice right from the first start. Of course and fortunately the Italian language is also available, therefore all notifications will be clear and understandable even to the less experienced of the English language. The robot, with voice commands (and the push notification system) will notify the start or end of each cleaning, the return to the charging base or a problem detected with the brushes rather than the wheels. The volume is quite high, in any case with the aid of the application it is possible to reduce it. It is a simple function which, however, integrating also with the voice assistants, appears more comfortable than we thought.
Cleaning
In the package, as per tradition, there are various accessories, such as spare brushes, a pair of washable cloths for cleaning floors, a cleaning brush and a replacement filter for the dust compartment. The base, unlike that of the previous models, has a double removable tray dedicated to collecting clean water and that used for cleaning. The capacity is large (400ml each) and allows for numerous cleaning cycles before action is required. If you want to place it on very large surfaces, you can always adjust the flow of water delivered during the cleaning phase.The base also integrates an "auto clean" and "auto refill" system that allow you to restore X1 Turbo to its initial stage ready for another cleaning cycle. At the end of each cleaning, the "air drying" program silently ventilates the washing section and in about 5 hours it completely dries the cloths installed on the robot, so as not to compromise the next level of cleaning.
The main focus of the Turbo version is the washing, therefore there is no compartment dedicated to the powder which must necessarily be removed by hand from the robot tray. The installation of the base is simple and immediate, moreover the presence of a cable reel system allows to obtain a more than clean job.
In terms of mobility, Deebot X1 Turbo manages to juggle with ease and avoid almost any type of obstacle; in our test he also managed to avoid a small four-legged friend. The accurate work of the detection system avoids situations in which the robot gets stuck under suspended furniture or sanitary ware. The wheels, on the other hand, are large enough to move the robot freely and the rubber installed on them ensures excellent grip in all conditions.
But how does the washing system work? The possibility of regulating the quantity of water supplied on different levels, the constant pressure of 6N and the rotation of 180 rpm guarantee high performance; in our opinion Ecovacs X1 Turbo is an excellent solution for those looking for a complete solution capable of both vacuuming and cleaning. The suction experience is similar to previous solutions, such as the Ozmo 920, so you can expect a good suction power declared for 5000Pa.
Conclusions
In short, Ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbo it is an excellent companion for cleaning the home (or office) thanks to the high number of functions and the degree of customization. The ability to map the house, select only certain areas to clean, avoid obstacles and model the vacuum / cleaning system as needed, are really interesting features. Also appreciable is the charging base which, even if only dedicated to the washing section, allows high autonomy and will not force you to continuously clean the tray system. Undertone, in our opinion, the noise that in some modes appears too pronounced; an aspect that can however be easily mitigated by starting the robot when you are not at home, also to ensure a higher degree of cleanliness.Ecovacs Deebot X1 will be available, at launch, on Amazon at a discounted price of 200 euros (discount code SAVE200EU).
