Try the Nissan Juke Enigma: the compact SUV with a dark soul
Try the Nissan Juke Enigma
Officially born in 2009 and presented at the Geneva Motor Show of the time, the Nissan Juke is a famous compact crossover that has populated our streets for several years now. Now in its second iteration in 2019, the small Japanese SUV is renewed in all respects by implementing greater safety, renewed engines and, of course, a more modern look and in step with the current stylistic features of the Japanese brand. But it is with the Enigma setting that reaches its maximum expression, a small "anti-aging" retouch introduced by the Japanese manufacturer last year.Compared to the Juke that accompanied us for several years, with the update stylistic, those extroverted forms typical of the first generation are definitively lost. The "surprise" effect therefore disappears and becomes a more mature solution that is not aimed exclusively at a young audience. There remain sculpted, massive and muscular lines that make this small SUV still quite satisfying to see especially in a market surrounded by solutions that are often too close to each other. The Enigma trim level also adds a special Dark Metal Gray paint with a Black Metallic contrast roof, three-dimensional stickers, large 19 "Arari Black alloy wheels and a series of LED headlights.

Therefore, there is no electric counterpart that we will probably see on the occasion of future stylistic updates. In combination with the engine we find a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that unloads all the power exclusively on the front axle. The delivery is fluid and despite the presence of a three-cylinder you will hardly have any difficulty in overtaking on the motorway; consumption, on the other hand, is in line with what was declared by the parent company with an average of 7 l / 100 km. The tank is 46 liters, therefore, with a measured use of the foot of the gas, you will be able without too much difficulty to travel more than 500 km with a full tank.
At the wheel, the Nissan Juke Enigma behaves very well and the setting is rather touristic without any particular sporting ambitions, a more than correct choice which is not surprising considering the type of car in front of you. Thanks to the overall low weight and the dimensions of a true B-SUV, Juke appears very agile even in the urban jungle thanks to the presence of a complete system of cameras and sensors.
Federicovecchio.com The interior is large and spacious although the boundless use of the dark color makes it visually smaller than it really is. The three-spoke multifunction steering wheel has a sporty cut and offers a series of controls that will be very useful in everyday driving; in general, the layout of the buttons is well suited and Nissan, from this point of view, has certainly managed to package a product that is easy to use. The tachometer is analog and equipped with a 7 ”TFT display that collects the main information. On the central area there is an 8-inch cantilever touchscreen compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, unfortunately only in the wired variants. The infotainment - driving systems interaction works well and easily, the only aspect that in our opinion appears subdued is the graphics of the menus that have not yet been suitably renewed.

Federicovecchio.com Finally, it is almost mandatory to report the presence for the first time of the Amazon Alexa virtual assistant. Officially belonging to the Nissan Connect package, the Amazon Alexa service allows you to use your voice to remotely enable certain functions on the car such as starting it, unlocking the doors, turning on the lights and much more.
The habitability of board is good and although it is approved for five people we recommend, on long journeys, to check that there is enough space on board. The feeling, like many B-SUVs in the same category, is that the optimal configuration is one with only four occupants. On the other hand, the trunk is excellent, offering from 422 liters up to 1,305 with the seats folded down; the top is wide and adjustable on two levels, too bad for the threshold which could make some loading - unloading actions complicated.

For the model offered by Nissan for the test it is necessary to spend almost 28 thousand euros. Generally speaking, we believe that the Juke is a more than successful compact SUV that goes well with the dynamics of an urban context while offering a good possibility of use even on the motorway.
