Super Smash Bros Ultimate: Evil Ryu arrives for Street Fighter's 35th anniversary
Super Smash Bros Ultimate
Super Smash Bros Ultimate also celebrates the 35th anniversary of Street Fighter in its own way, adding another character to the roster: Evil Ryu, a variant of Ryu taken from the fighting series that will be introduced as a spirit within the game for Nintendo Switch. .Evil Ryu will therefore be present in Super Smash Bros Ultimate starting from January 14th and represents a rather surprising event, considering that the support with the addition of contents to Super Smash Bros Ultimate has officially closed the arrival of Sora from Kingdom Hearts as the last fighter on the roster, except of course the technical updates to maintain the game.
Surprisingly, Evil Ryu will also arrive as an additional spirit in the game, which had never appeared before, so in fact it represents a new and unreleased content for the title on Nintendo Switch, which in this way truly celebrates in particular the 35th anniversary of Street Fighter.
The anniversary was also announced in these days by Capcom itself, with the official logo of the event and also an upcoming game of the series that will be unveiled in the course of 2022, which could be Street Fighter VI, considering how the fifth chapter has now exhausted its run.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Stuns Fans With Brand-New Spirit Event
Last year, Nintendo announced that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate would no longer receive new content, as development on the game had officially come to an end. Following the release of the final DLC fighter Sora, many fans hoped the game would at least continue to add new Spirits. Alas, Nintendo announced that the game would begin to recycle previous Spirit events. However, the company seems to have reversed course on that decision, announcing tonight that a new event is coming in honor of Street Fighter's 35th anniversary! Starting on January 14th, players will have a chance to acquire a Spirit based on Evil Ryu.
The Spirit will be available as part of a new event that will last for five days. According to the Street Fighter Wiki, Evil Ryu debuted in the Street Fighter Zero manga, before appearing in the games, starting with Street Fighter Alpha 2. Images of the Spirit can be found in the Tweet embedded below.
Capcom announced its plans to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Street Fighter franchise yesterday, debuting an all-new logo for the occasion. In our reporting, I speculated that we could see anniversary-themed crossovers with other games, as we did with Resident Evil's 25th anniversary last year. On one hand, it makes a lot of sense for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to get a tie-in, given the fact that Ryu and Ken are both playable in the game. However, it's quite surprising since Nintendo announced an end to new Spirit events last November.
Of course, responses to the Tweet above are already full of speculation from fans that we could see more new Spirit events. That seems a bit unlikely given Nintendo's previous statements, but it's impossible to say what the future may hold. For now, fans will just have to take what they can get!
