The best enemies of 2021
Every hero needs a nemesis, and this concept is all the more true in video games. How would the most famous action adventures, shooters and RPGs be without thick opponents, able to motivate us with their evil actions and push us to complete the experience in the hope of finally being able to face them openly?
We have compiled a list, inevitably partial, with some of the best enemies of 2021. Sometimes fascinating and charismatic figures, sometimes simply frightening and powerful, but who somehow left their mark and added value to their respective productions.
Talking about them without spoilers was difficult, so beware of unwanted advances! And of course, write in the comments your favorite enemies in 2021.
Born in the early 1900s from an aristocratic family, Alcina was transformed into a mutant by Mother Miranda when she was little more than forty years, ceasing to age, but at the same time growing out of all proportion as her skin turned pale as that of a corpse and the desire to drink human blood was unleashed in her.
It is a fearsome boss, protagonist of the undoubtedly best part of the campaign we talked about in the Resident Evil Village review, within the walls of his majestic home and in the company of his "daughters". Almost three meters tall, Lady Dimitrescu continually wanders the halls of the castle in search of Ethan Winters, in an attempt to tear him to pieces using his very long and sharp claws.
As per tradition for the Capcom series, the Dimitrescu's appearance changes when faced with it for the last time, on one of the building's towers. In fact, the woman becomes a sort of huge dragon from which a half-length appears: an aspect that recalls in many ways the final transformation of Silen, the infernal harpy opposing Devilman.
Inspired by the Cuban governor Fulgencio Batista, Castillo controls the fictional island of Yara with an iron fist and is used to crush any resistance, while in the tobacco fields its scientists experiment on unarmed civilians the effects of Viviro, a revolutionary anticancer drug on which the dictator aims to reopen commercial channels with the West and get rich.
We find it in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy (review here) practically surprisingly, in the guise of a potential trophy to be given to Lady Hellbender for get his help in the latest battle against Cardinal Raker and the troops of the Universal Church of Truth. The Guardians travel to Maklu-IV to find Fin Fang Foom and stumble upon the devastation he has wreaked among the inhabitants of the planet, only to meet him and start a spectacular battle.
However Kuwana hides much more and we will discover it only in the final stages of the long campaign of the game, facing a more complex and multifaceted opponent than it initially seemed. A man who does not regret the actions he has committed and rather wants to carry on his mission in spite of everything: something new for the Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, considering the bizarre expedient devised to "exonerate" Taiga Saejima at the time of Yakuza 4.
Karen Travers is one of the reasons why the White Walkers entered our dimension: although moved by noble motives, the very powerful warrior of the FSE has traveled through time countless times and generated anomalies that threaten to dist roar the world. The final battle in which we will have to face him is nothing short of spectacular: Karen gives life to huge masked creatures that represent her feelings, challenging us to destroy them.
Lahmu is a fundamentally personalityless monster: he lives to cause pain and this attitude of his is well represented in the last chapter of the series. Atlus, but more than anything else it is its appearance (both in the first and in the second form) that strikes, placing itself as a perfect representation of the large and impressive bestiary we talked about in the review by Shin Megami Tensei V.
Precisely for this reason their fight is different from the usual, fast and frenetic: a sort of competition to see who is the first to put into practice the same abilities, although things change quickly when it comes to the second and third stages of the boss fight. At that point Raven Beak transforms and her repertoire is enriched with new moves, putting us to the test.

Alcina Dimitrescu - Resident Evil Village
Resident Evil Village, Alcina Dimitrescu in her most famous pose Undoubtedly one of the characters of the year, Alcina Dimitrescu represents Resident Evil Village's most prominent and charismatic enemy, and one of the reasons why the promotion of the game developed by Capcom has worked so well. Thanks to her prosperous breasts and the vintage dress that tends to reveal it, but not only.Born in the early 1900s from an aristocratic family, Alcina was transformed into a mutant by Mother Miranda when she was little more than forty years, ceasing to age, but at the same time growing out of all proportion as her skin turned pale as that of a corpse and the desire to drink human blood was unleashed in her.

Anton Castillo - Far Cry 6
Far Cry 6, Anton Castillo and his son Diego In the review of Far Cry 6 we did not have many words of admiration for the character of Anton Castillo, in effect a stereotypical dictator with few traits in some way unpublished, see for example his crazy love for his son Diego. However, there is no doubt that Giancarlo Esposito's interpretation has given depth to this figure.Inspired by the Cuban governor Fulgencio Batista, Castillo controls the fictional island of Yara with an iron fist and is used to crush any resistance, while in the tobacco fields its scientists experiment on unarmed civilians the effects of Viviro, a revolutionary anticancer drug on which the dictator aims to reopen commercial channels with the West and get rich.
Fin Fang Foom - Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, Fin Fang Foom breathes fire behind Star-Lord Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1961, Fin Fang Foom is one of the most powerful creatures and dangerous of the Marvel Universe: it is a real dragon of alien origin, which in the course of his career has clashed several times with the likes of Iron Man, Hulk and Thor, being killed and returning to life as traditionally for the characters of the House of Ideas ... at least the paper ones.We find it in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy (review here) practically surprisingly, in the guise of a potential trophy to be given to Lady Hellbender for get his help in the latest battle against Cardinal Raker and the troops of the Universal Church of Truth. The Guardians travel to Maklu-IV to find Fin Fang Foom and stumble upon the devastation he has wreaked among the inhabitants of the planet, only to meet him and start a spectacular battle.
Jin Kuwana - Lost Judgment
Lost Judgment, the mysterious Jin Kuwana Friend or foe? The figure of Jin Kuwana in Lost Judgment is undoubtedly ambiguous. One of the novelties of the second chapter of the SEGA series, this character is introduced as a sort of handyman and provides invaluable help to the protagonist of the adventure, Takayuki Yagami, when it comes to lead his hands against the criminal gangs of Isezaki Ijincho. br>However Kuwana hides much more and we will discover it only in the final stages of the long campaign of the game, facing a more complex and multifaceted opponent than it initially seemed. A man who does not regret the actions he has committed and rather wants to carry on his mission in spite of everything: something new for the Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, considering the bizarre expedient devised to "exonerate" Taiga Saejima at the time of Yakuza 4.
Karen Travers - Scarlet Nexus
Scarlet Nexus, the very powerful Karen Travers If you have read the review of Scarlet Nexus, you will know that among the strengths of the game is the absolutely crazy design of the enemies, the White Walkers: monsters from outer space that feed on the enhanced brains of humans and possess an original appearance to say the least, the result of the seemingly random fusion of objects, people and animals.Karen Travers is one of the reasons why the White Walkers entered our dimension: although moved by noble motives, the very powerful warrior of the FSE has traveled through time countless times and generated anomalies that threaten to dist roar the world. The final battle in which we will have to face him is nothing short of spectacular: Karen gives life to huge masked creatures that represent her feelings, challenging us to destroy them.
Lahmu - Shin Megami Tensei V
Shin Megami Tensei V, the monstrous Lahmu Probably the scariest creature we will have to face in Shin Megami Tensei V, Lahmu is the representation of an ancient Mesopotamian deity: a sort of floating mask from which long tentacles emerge. Defeating this enemy is not at all easy, as he possesses extraordinary strength and endurance.Lahmu is a fundamentally personalityless monster: he lives to cause pain and this attitude of his is well represented in the last chapter of the series. Atlus, but more than anything else it is its appearance (both in the first and in the second form) that strikes, placing itself as a perfect representation of the large and impressive bestiary we talked about in the review by Shin Megami Tensei V.
Raven Beak - Metroid Dread
Metroid Dread, Raven Beak Metroid Dread (review) boasts a series of spectacular boss fights and it is common opinion that the latest fight, the one with Raven Beak, is the best of the lot . The character, one of the most powerful leaders of the Mawkin tribe, is closely linked to Samus Aran, as fans of the Nintendo series probably know; and it is therefore no coincidence that she possesses abilities very similar to those of the protagonist.Precisely for this reason their fight is different from the usual, fast and frenetic: a sort of competition to see who is the first to put into practice the same abilities, although things change quickly when it comes to the second and third stages of the boss fight. At that point Raven Beak transforms and her repertoire is enriched with new moves, putting us to the test.
