LEGO Speed Champions: new 2022 sets announced for March!
LEGO Speed Champions
Last year they were absent from the January catalog and many fans and collectors feared that LEGO had closed the theme, but luckily they returned in June. Also this year we will not see new LEGO Speed Champions sets in January, but evidently LEGO has received the message (of concern from the Communities) and in the printed catalog in circulation these days has added the teaser regarding the arrival of the new sets for March 2022. We are in fact able to show you the images and give you information on the new sets. Let's go and discover together the future LEGO Speed Champions 2022?LEGO Speed Champions # 76906 Ferrari 512 M LEGO Speed Champions # 76907 Lotus Evija LEGO Speed Champions # 76908 Lamborghini Countach LEGO Speed Champions # 76909 ??? New LEGO Speed Champions 2022 sets
Three sets are single car, one is a pair set and one more are not yet available information, but it is very likely that it is also a pair set.LEGO Speed Champions # 76906 Ferrari 512 M
Based on the information we currently have, we are unable to say whether the model reproduces the Ferrari 512 M from 1970 (left in the photo) or the Ferrari 512 M from 1994 (right in the photo ). If the set contained the replica of the Ferrari 512 M from 1970, we would be talking about the "Modified" version (hence the "M") of the Ferrari 512 S which took part in the World Sports Prototype Championship in the 1970 edition. semi-monocoque frame in light alloy and the engine, a V12 of 4,993.53 cc with 550 hp, was positioned in a central-longitudinal position. The total weight was 850 kg and was made in both berlinetta and targa versions. If we were talking about the 1994 Ferrari 512 M, the set would include the replica of the latest version of the Ferrari Testarossa, which differed from the first version of 1984 for the front with redesigned grille and visible headlights with a Plexiglas cover (instead of retractable as on the previous series), the bumpers (new), for the new rear light units (double, circular and without grille) and rims (modular with 5-spoke helix design). Inside, some details changed, while from the technical point of view the innovations concerned the engine power, which was raised to 440 HP and performance, and the maximum speed, which thanks to 60 kg less overall weight was brought to 315 kmh. Even today it is one of the most sought after Ferraris, both due to the small number of units produced (limited to 500) and the fact that it is the last Ferrari produced with the “flat” 12-cylinder engine.

LEGO Speed Champions # 76907 Lotus Evija
The set reproduces the model of the first electric hypercar produced by Lotus. Built in 130 units, it has four electric motors and the equivalent of 2000 hp. For 200-300 km / h it takes 4.0 seconds. It has a decisive appearance and lines designed according to aerodynamics, as evidenced by the pronounced front hood, the concave sides and the huge air vents at the rear. The latter are actually designed to maximize the Venturi effect: in short, the air is compressed inside these tunnels, thus increasing the pressure and thus increasing the thrust towards the ground that weighs on the rear part of the car in favor of stability. . The ground clearance of only 10.5 cm makes it clear that this hypercar is essentially aimed at the track, where the driver will certainly appreciate the active aerodynamics system, which includes a rear spoiler capable of changing inclination to facilitate the smoothness of the car. o resistance to running (i.e. acting as an air brake). The openings in the front hood help to cool the batteries. Fun fact: Lotus' electric hypercar will have the sound of Jim Clark's historic F1! Music producer Patrick Patrikios curated the Evija's sound based on the 1967 Type 49 single-seater.
In fact, if from the point of view of comfort the absence of noise is considered a positive aspect, on the contrary those who want a sound involvement find it hard to get excited while driving a car with zero emissions. The 1968 Lotus Type 48B, piloted by Jim Clark and Graham Hill, has already been transformed into bricks by RoscoPC, the AFOL Designer known for his spectacular reproductions in LEGO and LEGO Technic elements of some of the most famous Formula 1 cars of the past, who designed and built both the large 1: 8 scale version (see MOC data sheet) and the small 1:27 scale version (MOC data sheet).

Currently available information is not available to us allow you to determine whether to be reproduced by the new LEGO Speed Champions set will be the brand new Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 which debuted at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance last summer (left in photo), or the iconic, historic Lamborghini Countach LP 500, queen supercar of the 70s (right in the photo).
If the set contained the replica of the Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4, we would be talking about the more current version of a real icon, full of references to the "historic" Countach, such as the shape and arrangement of the front lights, which abandon the classic "Y" design, the NACA side air intakes and the front ones with horizontal development, the hexagonal wheel arches, the 4 exhausts and the sharp lines, but also of many elements of the 21st century “Lambos”, such as the supercapacitors that flank the strictly endothermic aspirated V12 just like in the Lamborghini Sian. The 780 bhp 6.5-liter V12 is therefore accompanied by a 34 bhp 48-volt system, to reach a total of 814 bhp for 1,595 kg.
If instead we were talking about the 1971 Lamborghini Countach LP 500 ( and later), the set would include the replica of one of the most iconic supercars in the history of the del Toro brand but not only. Designed by the engineer Paolo Stanzani and designed by Bertone, it fitted the powerful V12 Lamborghini engine in front of the rear axle in a longitudinal position, with the gearbox in front, to centralize the masses. We're talking about 350 hp of power and a speed of 295 km / h… in the 70s!

The set includes two car models: the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR PRO and the Aston Martin Vantage GT3. The first is a car that Aston Martin has developed in collaboration with Red Bull Racing with a hybrid V12 engine. The two-seater hypercar inspired by Formula 1 adopts a naturally aspirated V12 6.5 combined with an electric motor, for a total of 1,155 hp. and 700 Nm. The aerodynamic component plays a key role in the project, because the entire design of the car has been studied according to the downforce: the road version of the Valkyrie is capable of 1,400 kg of aerodynamic pressure at 240 km / h. Also presented at the Pebble Beach Concorso d'Eleganza as the Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4, the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR PRO will be produced in 150 coupé and 85 spider specimens.

The second car included in the set is the LEGO brick replica of the Aston Martin Vantage GT3, a car presented in 2019 equipped with Mercedes-AMG's 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which replaces the previous model's V12. The power released by the new engine is around 535 hp, with a dry weight of 1,245 kg. Still compared to the previous model, it can boast notable improvements in terms of aerodynamic efficiency, braking system and suspension ... and obviously it cannot be approved for use on the road: the pool is its natural environment!

In occasion of the launch of the new LEGO Speed Champions 8 stud line, in January 2020 the LEGO # 30342 Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo Evo polybag was also produced, with which it was possible to build the micro-scale version (Tiny Turbos for fans) of the “big sister” included in the LEGO set # 76899 Lamborghini Urus ST-X & Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO.
(Last year, again in January but without having seen the new Speed Champions sets yet (which were only unveiled the following June), it was the turn of the McLaren Elva from the LEGO Speed Champions set # 76902 McLaren Elva to be micro-scaled for the LEGO # 30343 McLaren Elva polybag.
(Will we also have a polybag with the reduced version of one of the new Speed Champions sets in 2022? Keep following us and you will find out!

LEGO Speed Champions # 76909 ???
Unfortunately there is no information of any kind about this set. However, it is very likely, if the "scheme" of the launches of the new LEGO Speed Champions sets is respected, that it is a couple set, or a set that includes two models of the same brand (a modern car and a vintage car or a road car and a track car, see next set) ... we will see what a surprise the LEGO Designers have reserved for us when the new 2022 sets are officially presented.Number of pieces: ???
