LEGO and the Chinese New Year: all the sets dedicated to the Lunar New Year
LEGO and the Chinese New Year
LEGO took the opportunity of the fourth edition of the China International Import Expo in Shanghai to present the new sets of the Chinese New Year 2022. Inaugurated in 2019, the new series of thematic sets dedicated to the celebrations of the Chinese New Year is becoming decidedly substantial, allowing fans of bricks and lovers of oriental atmospheres to start thinking and designing dioramas and scenes of and with Asian landscapes. What do you think, do we want to take a look at these fantastic sets?A bit of history
Anyone who follows the events of the brick closely, yes will certainly remember the baillame of 2019 when, with a decision considered somewhat questionable by the whole community of Danish brick enthusiasts, the LEGO Group decided to put three specific sets for sale in the APAC market only (China, rest of Asia and Oceania) for the area itself on the occasion of the Chinese New Year, that is the Chinese New Year's Eve Dinner set "(80101), the Dragon Dance set (80102) and the Dragon bat race set (80103), now all withdrawn from sale and therefore recoverable only on the secondary market (bricklink.com, Amazon, eBay etc). Literally submerged by an avalanche of protests from the global community, the LEGO Group Management announced that starting from May 2019, ALL regional sets (i.e. created specifically for a specific "geographic" market) would be made available for everything else. of the world through lego.com, the official and direct e-commerce site of LEGO (better known as the LEGO Shop) after no more than 4-6 months from the sale in the reference market. Thanks to this decision, it was possible to obtain the Dragon bat race set (80103) simply by accessing the Italian LEGO Shop, instead of turning to the secondary market or to relatives, friends or colleagues who for some reason had to go to China, Asia or Australia / New Zeland.if (jQuery ("# crm_srl-th_culturapop_d_mh2_1"). is (": visible")) {console.log ("Edinet ADV adding zone: tag crm_srl-th_culturapop_d_mh2_1 slot id: th_culturapop_d_mh2"); } For 2020, something must have happened on the upper floors of the LEGO Group headquarters in Billund (Denmark), because in the text of the scheduled launch announcement published on December 26, 2019 and relating to two new sets of the Chinese New Year theme, it was already included and expected the launch of the same sets in the rest of the world starting from the following 10 January 2020, so well in advance of the 4-6 months "promised" the previous year.
For this 2021 just started , perhaps also taking into account the logistics problems and the various travel restrictions imposed globally by the pandemic, things went even better: not only the new ones arrived on our Italian lego.com already on January 1st, but the usual two LEGO System sets has been added a third DUPLO 2-in-1 set, which allows you to build both an apartment section and a kindergarten classroom.
