How to complete the Sinnoh Pokédex in Pokémon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl
In this Pokémon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl guide we will explain how to complete the Sinnoh Pokédex and where to find some of the rarest Pokémon that may be missing from your collection.
Completing the Sinnoh Pokédex is a key step to access to all the endgame contents of the two remakes of the fourth generation games of the Game Freak series. In fact, once you have registered all 150 creatures native to the region you can get the upgrade to the National Pokédex, which will allow you to capture even more Pokémon, including dozens and dozens of Legendaries. Some juicy endgame activities will unlock, such as rematches against Gym Leaders and the Battle Tower located on the Battle Zone island, a brand new area that you will unlock during the endgame. For more details, we recommend reading our guide on how to get the National Pokédex and what content it unlocks in the Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl endgame.
Indeed, facing all the Trainers that stand in front of you and exploring all of them the paths and caves of the game, even the optional ones, once you become Champions of the Pokémon League you may have already completed more than 80% of the Pokédex without even realizing it.
However, there are some rare or particular creatures that may be missing from your collection. Among them, for example, is Drifloon, a Ghost Pokémon that appears only in one area under specific conditions and owned by only one trainer throughout the game. Or, the legendary between Dialga and Palkia absent in your game version. In the next section of this guide, we have listed some of the Pokémon that are most likely missing from your collection and how to register them in the Pokédex.
The general advice is to face all the trainers you will find along the your path, as they are sometimes in the possession of rare creatures. In addition, in Pokémon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl there are a large number of optional areas, that is not necessary to get to the credits, where species of Pokémon that cannot be found elsewhere appear or only by searching the Great Dungeons. A tip in this regard is to use the Challenge Seeker, a tool obtained from Dawn / Lucas on Route 207. Thanks to it you will find out if there are any Trainers in an area that you have not yet challenged, as well as those who want a rematch.
You may only encounter Dialga or Palkia depending on your version, but there is a very simple method to recover the Missing legendary card

How to complete the Sinnoh Pokédex
In the Great Dungeons of Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl there are numerous species of Pokémon. If your goal is to get the National Pokédex, you will be happy to know that to "complete" the Sinnoh one you will simply need to register all the cards relating to the creatures of the region. To register a Pokémon just spot it at least once, you don't have to catch it, which for obvious reasons makes completing the Pokédex much easier.Indeed, facing all the Trainers that stand in front of you and exploring all of them the paths and caves of the game, even the optional ones, once you become Champions of the Pokémon League you may have already completed more than 80% of the Pokédex without even realizing it.

Rare Pokémon and how to register them in the Pokédex
Pokémon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl, a Lucario Below is a list of legendary Pokémon or uncommon creatures owned only by specific trainers.# 46: Wormadam
Wormadam may be missing from your Pokédex as only one trainer fights using this specific Pokémon. This is the "Beauty" Magda who is on Route 214, south of Rupepolis. The trainer is in the center of the course, you will recognize her by her blond hair. Alternatively, you can get this Pokémon by going up to Lv. 20 a female Burny.# 59: Cherrim
Only two trainers of Pokémon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl have a Cherrim in their team, and both are in optional areas, so you may not have them recorded in the Pokédex during the adventure. In that case, the quickest way to remedy this is to take the Canalave City ferry to reach Iron Island. Entering the dungeon take the stairs on the left and enter the next area. You will find a trainer with a Cherrim on the east side. The other trainer is located on Route 221, which you can reach using Surf and heading southeast from Sabbiafine, passing through routes 219 and 220. The trainer in question is the Fantasy Trainer Vania who is in the tall grass. ># 63 Aipom
If you haven't registered Aipom in your Pokédex, head to Route 210, north of Phlemminia. Here you will find on the left a trainer in the tall grass with a hat who has a specimen of the Pokémon in his team. Alternatively, you will find other trainers holding an Aipom on Route 212 and in the Labyrinth Cave, accessible from Route 206.# 72: Misdreavus
Misdreavus is another one of those Pokémon that could missing in your collection. You can remedy this by heading to Phlemminia. From here, head south to enter Route 209 and then enter the Memory Tower. Go up to the fourth floor and face the pair of trainers on the west side. With a bit of luck, you will be able to meet a specimen of the Pokémon just as you climb the tower, as it is its natural habitat.# 115: Riolu
The only trainer who owns a Riolu is located on the lower level of Varco Mineropoli, the cave that connects Route 203 with Orefield. Alternatively, complete the Iron Isle dungeon with Marisius. After defeating Team Galaxy this character will give you an Egg of Riolu.# 65: Drifloon
Drifloon is one of the Pokémon that could most easily be missing from your collection. The only trainer in possession of this Pokémon is found in the Hearthome City gym and you may never meet him, as he will appear in front of you only and exclusively by failing the very simple mathematical quizzes present in the gym. Fortunately, you can come across a Drifloon in the wild but only in a specific area and under particular conditions. To be precise, you will find the Pokémon in front of the entrance to the Whirlwind Plant every Friday, after chasing away Team Galaxy. You may only encounter Dialga or Palkia depending on your version, but there is a very simple method to recover the Missing legendary card
# 102: Chatot
The only trainer in possession of a Chatot is Gentleman Jeremiah, who is on Route 212. Enter the area starting from the south of Hearthome City, proceeding in south direction. Along the way you will find some cops, after the third one you will meet the trainer you are looking for.# 114: Unown
No trainer of Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl owns a Unown, the mysterious Pokémon in the shape of a letter introduced in the Gold and Silver chapters. You will only be able to encounter these creatures in the Flemminia Ruins, an optional area east of Flemminia. The Unown are the only Pokémon that populate this area, so meeting one won't be difficult. Just for clarity, there are 26 different versions of Unown, one for each letter of the alphabet, plus two in the shape of "!" and "?", but any one will be enough to complete the Pokédex.# 146, 147 and 148: Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf
Once you've defeated Cyrus, fight against Dialga or Palkia and obtained the medal of the Snowpoint gym you can face the trio of the Guardians of the Lakes, namely Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf. Meeting Uxie and Azelf is quite simple: the former is in the center of Lake Cunning, while the other is in Lake Valor. Capturing Mesprit, on the other hand, is a bit more problematic as she will roam all over Sinnoh, changing areas from time to time. For more details on how to meet and catch this trio we suggest you read our guide on how to catch all the Legendary Pokémon of Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl.# 149 and 150: Dialga and Palkia
In Pokémon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl, you can fight and capture only one of Dialga or Palkia, depending on your version. Luckily, recording the absentee legend in your version is child's play. Once you have faced Dialga or Palkia, just head to Memoride and talk to Professor Carolina, Camilla's grandmother. She will show you an image of the legendary absent in your game, thus adding the Pokémon card to your Pokédex. If you found this article useful, we recommend that you also read our guide on how to catch Ditto, how to get Eevee and all its evolutions, where to find the Evolutionary Stones and how to receive the Legendary Plates.
