Halo Infinite, multiplayer is richer than we think

Halo Infinite

Despite the incredible success of Halo Infinite multiplayer, 343 Industries may have several surprises in store for the next few months. As pointed out on Reddit, in fact, the multiplayer sector of the game hides much more than the modes we have come to know in these weeks of play.

It is obviously not easy to find them, but a simple trick is enough: start Halo Infinite from Steam in offline mode. In this way you get access (at least in Custom mode) access to as many as 14 additional modes, not yet available for classic multiplayer. And they are really very varied and original and offer a very different gaming experience to that offered by the modes available from November 15, 2021.

Among the 14 "secret" modes of Halo Infinite we find, for example, Attribution, where each player has a respawn limit and the goal of the two teams is to exhaust the rebirths of the opposing players. Also present Tactical Slayer, where there are neither shields nor radars. In short, there is really a lot of meat on the fire. Now the point of the story is to understand if all these modes will be published over the months, to better dilute the gaming experience and not offer everything immediately or if some of these new 14 types of matches have been cut due to a gaming experience not considered optimal.

However, we must not be surprised by any of the scenarios foreseen, nor obviously by the new modes found in the game. The multiplayer of Halo Infinite has in fact been launched in beta and this means that 343 Industries is always working to be able to optimize the game and introduce modes and small changes as player feedback arrives, a bit like what happened to the Battle Pass. . In short, a game in constant evolution, a method already tested for free-to-play titles and which for the moment, at least for the game made in Seattle, is working practically well.

‘Halo Infinite’ Confirms It’s Getting All The Playlists And Modes You Want

Halo Infinite

As Halo Infinite continues to try and fix all the elements of itself that players are mad about, we have an update about something that does not have to do with the battle pass, the playlist and mode situation.

Many Halo players have noted that it’s pretty weird to have just two playlists and six game modes in Infinite, compared to what past games have gotten. And with the arrival of Fiesta in a time-limited event, players were worried that classic modes like that may be restricted to limited time offerings.

Once again, enter community manager John Junyszek with some good news.

  • Events will preview new modes before adding them to the game, but they will not be the only place those modes show up.
  • Halo Infinite will be attempting to add Fiesta, SWAT and Free-for-All playlists before the end of 2021, though not in time for official launch on December 8.
  • Halo Infinite will be adding a Social Slayer playlist (with multiple variations), though that will not be added until after the holidays.
  • So, that’s a good amount of current issues resolved, and a direct response to a lot of fan feedback. One remaining problem, the fact that you cannot pick individual modes, meaning you can play eight Quick Play games in a row without completing your Oddball quest, is in my opinion more a problem with challenge structure than playlists. I think it stands to reason that say, an Oddball only playlist wouldn’t exactly be amazing from a player population perspective, and I think the answer is to reformat some of the challenges to be more applicable to more modes than to require you to land on a specific mode so often.

One of my main ideas is to simply free the large challenge list from the constraints of being doled out four at a time. So you will always be working toward challenges in whatever mode you play until you maybe get to the very end and just have a few left. The problem with this idea is that Halo has built up this idea of challenge swaps, which this could interfere with to some extent. They also give paying players a “reward” of a fourth challenge slot, so yeah, it’s hard to see them opening 20+ challenge slots at a time. Still, I would consider it.

So no, do not expect massive multiplayer changes this coming week for the December 8 campaign launch. We will get those other modes before the new year, apparently, but Social Slayer will take longer. Dec 8 is mostly going to be about the campaign, and we will see what other patches hit multiplayer, as they have been coming rather fast and furious as 343 tries to make changes to please players. I say they’ve done a pretty good job thus far.
