Everyone plays DOOM 2, even rats! They could be coming to Twitch
Everyone plays DOOM 2
Yes, it's all true: as incredulous as you may be, rats have really started playing DOOM 2. If the news leaves you shocked, we certainly cannot blame you, given the absurdity of the situation; yet it has been possible to make such an illogical thing happen in earnest. And it seems that the mind that taught these rodents the art of gaming even wants to bring everything to the "big screen", that is to Twitch, so that we outsiders can also witness the bizarre spectacle.Let's do the Picture of the situation: The insane incident began in Hungary, where a local scientist named Viktor Tóth had the brilliant idea of catching three rats and teaching them to play DOOM 2. To do this, he has devised a VR system in which rodents can walk freely, and after various technical measures, he has made sure that this mechanism allows small animals to maneuver their character within the video game.
The idea is certainly very comical, but the reason behind this gesture is much more serious: with this project, in fact, the Hungarian scientist's goal is to create a system that teaches rodents to run around in one 3D space without it being tiring for them, and without the need for any surgical operations. In this way, all of this can also be a stimulating activity for the rat: Viktor, in fact, once owned one that with this method managed to run for 15 minutes straight without getting tired.
The reason why Viktor wants to bring this project to Twitch, therefore, is quite understandable: his aim is to promote it and make it reach as many people as possible, in the hope that it can really catch on . In the future, the scientist intends to devise other systems of this type: he had also thought of Pac-Man, but at the moment the idea seems suspended because it could be too difficult to develop.
If these curious rats have you made you want to play DOOM, then take advantage of the current discounts to recover Doom Eternal, which you can find at this link.
Check out Ashes 2063 and Ashes: Afterglow, fantastic Doom II total conversions
An incredibly impressive double-episode total conversation for Doom 2, we have Ashes 2063 and Ashes: Afterglow. The first episode our own BTRE talked a bit about back in 2018, and since then it's been remastered and a second episode released only recently. Now, they're both available easily from Mod DB.
'Explore and scavenge through dozens of intricate maps, and use your scratched together arsenal to fight hordes of dangerous raiders and mutants in this expansive GZDoom TC. Ashes is part Duke Nukem 3D, part Doom, thrown into a blender with Mad Max, Fallout and Stalker for that refreshing post-apocalyptic twist.'
If you did manage to play the original before the first episode got a remaster, the newer edition features an expanded tutorial, a full expansion, lots of new textures and artwork, new sprites and sounds and much more.
Ashes works with GZDoom and either an iwad from Doom 2 or FreeDoom.
You can run it simply by ensuring you have the iwad and the pak files for each episode in a location GZDoom can read like: ~/.config/gzdoom/
You can download each episode from Mod DB.
