The Dark Horse comic book publisher was acquired by Embracer Group
Last December 21st on the official website of Dark Horse Comics, famous American comic book publisher including the Black Hammer series by Jeff Lemire, a statement was published in which its founder Mike Richardson announced the acquisition of Dark Horse by the Embracer Group, a company specializing in the development of video games and consoles. The agreement will see its termination in the course of 2022.The acquisition of Dark Horse by Embracer Group was thus described by Richardson in the press release on the website of his publishing house.
Embracer Group AB (“Embracer”) entered into negotiations today to acquire Dark Horse Media, LLC (“Dark Horse”), a leading entertainment company in the industry. After the deal is closed, Dark Horse will become the 10th operating group of the Embracer Group. With the acquisition, Embracer will strengthen its ability to be trans-media, increasing its experience in content development, comic book publishing, and film and TV show production. Dark Horse owns or controls more than 300 intellectual properties, many of which will be affected for future adaptations, including the development of new video games.
