Pokémon Grand Party - The rarest cards

Pokémon Grand Party - The rarest cards

Despite the release of the new expansion of the Pokémon Fusion Blow trading card game, the one dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the pocket monsters, called Gran Festa, is still widely sold and its cards are still highly sought after, especially the non-standard ones, a tribute to the old ones. expansions.

In talking about this particular set and what you can find inside it, we will see which are the most difficult to find cards and which ones currently have a higher value.

Introduction to Grand Party

Grand Party is an expansion designed to celebrate Pokémon's 25th anniversary and is a little different than traditional ones: its booster packs contain only 4 cards and can be found exclusively within the various themed Bundles or the Ultra Premium editions and the Star Player Trainer Sets. The set consists of 25 regular cards plus the same number of "Out of Series" cards, depicting some milestones in the history of the Pokémon TCG from the old expansions.

In addition to what can be found in the booster pack, there will be 16 promotional cards, found exclusively within the various products dedicated to the set and will combine recent Pokémon with the most famous mechanics from previous expansions, such as Pokémon Light, Pokémon Delta Species (δ) and Pokémon ☆ (Gold Star). In addition, all the cards of Gran Festa are holographic, certainly making it more satisfying to "unpack", even if the cards in the booster packs are few.

The rarest and most valuable cards

Like any self-respecting expansion, Gran Festa also contains cards that are certainly rarer to find and which, therefore, have a much higher value than other. Some, moreover, thanks above all to the limited availability of some products (such as the Ultra Premium Boxes), are found in very few copies, making their collector value (as well as the monetary value) significantly increase. So let's see in detail the most interesting and rarest cards that can be found in Gran Festa.

Charizard

How not to start with, perhaps, the Pokémon most loved by fans? The legendary card of the Pokémon dragon (even if, in reality, of the Dragon type it is not) has always been a source of pride for all collectors of collectible card games, in particular its version of the "shadowless" basic set, that is, without the particular shading placed under Charizard in later editions to give a sense of depth. The 25th anniversary version is one of the most popular custom-built models and features, in addition to the characteristic logo with the Pikachu face from the expansion, a particular "confetti" holography and to the touch it seems almost knurled. Its market value is around € 120-150 and is, at the moment, the one with the highest value within the set.

In Gran Festa we also have another version of Charizard and it is that Gold Metal, which can be found only and exclusively inside the Ultra Premium Box, one of the products currently unavailable at list price and which can be purchased for no less than 250 €. If, on the other hand, you are only interested in the fire starter, you can get away with "only" € 150, at best.

Umbreon ☆

In its version regular, Umbreon ☆ is one of the cards with the highest value ever (in fact, it is around € 3000), as it was part of a particular set, the Pop Series 5, which was distributed exclusively at Pokémon Organized Play events and goes perfectly paired with another Evolution of the set, namely Espeon ☆, which also hovers over important figures above € 1500. What we can find inside the Gran Festa, which is part of the off-series, is not worth so much, but it continues to defend itself very well: if you are lucky, you can also find it for € 80, but it is easily around € 100. It won't be like having the original, but it's definitely a nice collector's item for any Pokémon TCG lover.

Mew

Mew, the first real and just the legendary Pokémon, protagonist of numerous urban legends of the first games for Game Boy, is present in Gran Festa in two versions, both of the regular series. But if one can be bought for a few cents, the other, well, it will certainly take something more. The last card of the regulars is just a Mew in Shiny version, and despite having a value lower than the previous two, you will not find it for less than 50-60 € and it will be essential to complete your Grand Festa set.

Shining Magikarp

Shiny Pokémon ("iridescent" or "chromatic" in video games) are considered very rare within the game's Lore, so much so that, as far as the TCG, it was possible to have only one in your deck. And Shining Magikarp, along with its evolution Shining Gyarados, was one of the first to be introduced to the trading card game. Coming from the Neo Revelation expansion, the so-called "Carpa D'Oro", in its original version and in good condition, can reach figures well over € 150, but if you are satisfied (so to speak) with its reissue of Gran Festa , you can take it home with only 40 € at best.

The best product in terms of quality / price ratio of Gran Festa is definitely the Fuoriclasse Coach Set (ETB), containing 10 packs four cards from the expansion, 5 additional Pokémon TCG booster packs, a Greninja ☆ promo foil card, 65 card sleeves with the 25 Years of Pokémon logo and lightning bolt tail, 45 Energy cards, a player guide for the Grand Party expansion, the Pokémon TCG rulebook, six damage counter dice, a coin thrower die valid for competitions, two Plexiglas special conditions markers, a collector's box with four dividers to store and organize all the c content and a code card for the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online.
