After the conclusion of the final season of the Fruits Basket anime, they announced that a spin-off, with a still unknown format, would be coming, which would tell the story of Kyoko and Katsuy, entitled Kyо̄ko to Katsuya no Monogatari (Kyо̄ko and Katsuya's Story) . Well, now the official website has announced that this spin-off will be included in a film, titled Fruits Basket -prelude- which will open in Japan on February 18.The film will focus on the backstory of Tohru's parents, Kyо̄ko and Katsuya and will also include new scenes, written specifically for the film by Takaya, depicting events following the history of the television anime.
About Fruits Basket
The final season of the series Fruits Basket aired from 6 April to 29 June 2021 with 13 episodes. The cast and staff from previous seasons (seasons 1 and 2) reprized their roles. It was animated by the animation studio TMS Entertainment under the direction of Yoshihide Ibata. The scripts were written by Taku Kishimoto and the character designs were handled by Yu Shindo. Masaru Yokoyama composed the music and Natsuki Takaya supervised the production.The series is based on the manga of the same name written and illustrated by Natsuki Takaya. The manga was serialized in Hakusensha's semi-annual Japanese shoujo manga magazine Hana to Yume from 1998 to 2006. In 2001, the work won the Kodansha Award in the shōjo category. In Italy, the manga was published by Dynit from July 2002 to February 2008.

Fruits Basket, sometimes abbreviated Furuba, tells the story of Tohru Honda, an orphan girl who, after meeting Yuki, Kyo and Shigure Soma, learns that twelve members of the Soma family are possessed by the animals of the Chinese zodiac and they are cursed to transform into their animal forms when weak, stressed, or when embraced by anyone of the opposite sex who is not possessed by a zodiac spirit. Over the course of the series, Tohru learns of the hardships and pain faced by afflicted members of the Soma family, and through her generous and loving nature, she helps heal their emotional wounds. As Tohru learns more about Yuki, Kyo and the rest of the mysterious Soma family, she also learns more about herself and how much others care about her.

'Fruits Basket' is getting a film compilation!
According to the anime's official website, 'Fruits Basket: Prelude' will include a prequel and epilogue that will show the events that happened after the series concluded.
The prequel will center on the backstory of Tohru's parents Ky??ko and Katsuya.
'Fruits Basket,' based on the manga by Natsuki Takaya, follows high school girl Tohru, who becomes involved in the family drama of the Somas. The Soma family carries a curse where some of its members turn into Zodiac animals when hugged by someone of the opposite sex.
It was first adapted into anime in 2001 but a reboot version was released in 2019. The second season was released in 2020, and the third and final season premiered this 2021. —JCB/GMA News
