Death's Gambit returns from the dead with the Afterlife Update

Death's Gambit returns from the dead with the Afterlife Update

Death's Gambit actually celebrated its debut in 2018, which is why our test of the game is already three years old. What we didn't see coming back then: The Souls-Like in the pixel look would not disappear into the uniformity of the genre representatives, despite many qualities, but would return from the dead.

With the so-called Afterlife Update, Death's Gambit succeeds (buy now € 9.99) is now a real comeback and lands on the Nintendo Switch for the first time. The much more extensive version brings tons of new content and shows itself in all its pixel glory in the launch trailer.

Experience instead of dying: Death's Gambit receives a lot of new content

But afterlife does not have to be paid for DLC, just a new form of the old game. A bit like the Director's Cut of Death Stranding: The original game appears again and offers a lot of new content. In contrast to Death Stranding, the update is completely free for those who already own the title.

The launch trailer already shows why players can only win: Those who already have the game will be happy about new content and a reason to visit Souls-Like again. Anyone who still wanted to buy the title or was not on their radar can now start with a much more extensive version.

The afterlife update has a lot to offer in terms of content: In addition to six new bosses, it also comes up with 22 new weapons. The lack of variance in equipment, which we criticized in our test three years ago, should therefore be a thing of the past. In addition, players can look forward to different endings, an expanded world and more than 100 talents.

Anyone who has not given the Souls-Like a chance with its detailed pixel optics so far will now be given a good reason. So far, the update is available on the PC and the Nintendo Switch, on the PS4 it will follow "later".
