Atelier Sophie 2
Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream was announced by Koei Tecmo at TGS 2021 complete with trailers, images and release date: the new episode of the Gust series will be available starting February 25, 2022 on PC, PS4 and Nintendo Switch. As you can read in our interview with Junzo Hosoi, producer of Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream, this sequel introduces a new graphic style while maintaining narrative continuity with the original chapter.
Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream continues the story of the many adventures of Sophie and Plachta. After leaving Sophie's hometown, Kirchen Bell, the duo discover a huge tree identical to the one Plachta had seen in a dream and as they approach her, a mysterious whirlwind pulls them into her.
Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream, battles now start instantly Sophie wakes up alone in a curious new world called Erde Wiege, and it doesn't take long before she learns about an alchemist named Plachta who lives on the outskirts of the city. Surprisingly, when Sophie arrives at the atelier, she meets a young alchemy enthusiast named Plachta, and even though the alchemist shares the same name as her friend, she doesn't recognize Sophie.
What other surprises await Sophie on this trip? As the adventure continues, Sophie meets aspiring alchemist Ramizel Erlenmeyer, who gladly agrees to help her when she needs her. The narrative unfolds elegantly with a fascinating new visual style that combines the art style of the Mysterious sub-series with the high-quality graphics and animations found in 2021's Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends and the Secret Fairy.
On her journey in search of her missing friend, Sophie will have to fight the many monsters that inhabit the lands of Erde Wiege. As soon as players encounter an enemy on the field, the battle begins instantly with no loading times or separate screens - for the first time in the series - allowing battles to flow seamlessly.
Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream, the protagonists of the game In addition, the teams now consist of six members, with three in the front row and three in the back, to form two teams that cooperate in battles at multi-linked shifts. This new combat system opens up a wide range of exciting combat strategies that players can use to take out their enemies.
As with the previous chapters of the Atelier series, alchemy plays an important role in Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream. The game is based on the panel synthesis system featured in the Mysterious sub-series, where materials are inserted into the panel slots to create new items.
The game allows both aspiring alchemists and veterans to synthesize objects in a way that is comfortable for them thanks to two different types of panels: regular panels make it easier to create objects, while panels restricted are complex to master but allow the creation of objects with stronger effects to synthesize.
