New World: Players complain about poor performance
New World
The closed beta of New World, Amazon Game Studio's new MMO, ended early last month. Players mainly complained about poor and sometimes missing animations, problems with the servers and other rather frustrating flaws. In response to community feedback, the developers moved the title's release date from August 31, 2021 to September 28, 2021. They also announced an open beta date in which players will re-launch the title Try it out.
The Open Beta has been open to all players since yesterday, September 9th, so everyone can see how the game is progressing for themselves. It looks like Amazon Game Studios have at least fixed some animation issues and a host of other bugs, as the official beta patch notes show. For example, problems with quests have been fixed, some exploits have been removed and the AI has been improved a lot.
Unfortunately, the game is currently also showing setbacks in some areas. For example, users on Reddit are complaining about the new PvP scaling. This has now been weakened a lot in the open beta, which makes it much more difficult for low-level players to defeat higher-level players. According to the community, this ensures that PvP players feel compelled to reach the maximum level as soon as possible and not be able to play PvP already at a low level.

A far bigger problem is probably the performance. Many players report that their performance has now dropped by as much as 30 percent compared to the closed beta. Even players with very powerful machines report stuttering and quite low frame rates. Allegedly, among other things, the shadows should be responsible for this. According to one user, his frames were increased from an average of 70 to 100 when he reduced the quality of the shadows.
The exact reasons for the poorer performance are not yet known. However, since there are still a few days before New World (buy now 39.99 €) is officially released, the developers should still have enough time to work on the performance of the title.
