Sky Q will add 10,000 hours of new shows and movies under new deal (at no extra cost)
Sky has secured an extra 10,000 hours of exclusive shows and movies for its viewers in the UK next year. The satellite broadcaster has signed a multi-year partnership to bring Netflix rival Paramount+ to its Sky Q set-top box from 2022.
For those who don't know, Paramount+ is a streaming service from Paramount Pictures (that's the studio with the snow-capped mountaintop and the stars around the summit) currently only available in the United States. The Netflix rival, which is owned by Comcast and ViacomCBS, includes access to shows from a number of popular US networks, including CBS, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, MTV, and Smithsonian Channel. As the name suggests, there are also hundreds of movies from Paramount Pictures included too.
To compete with the likes of Prime Video and Netflix, Paramount+ is commissioning a huge number of original projects, including more than a dozen South Park films, new episodes of SpongeBob Square Pants, and the Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run movie.
Series including Stephen King's The Stand, Star Trek: Picard, The Good Fight, Why Women Kill, Tooning Out the News, and Star Trek: Discovery are already airing exclusively on the service in the United States.
And the good news is that all of this content – and more – will be coming to Sky Q, thanks to the new partnership.

Sky has confirmed that, upon launch, Sky Cinema subscribers will exclusive films from Paramount+ at no additional cost – providing access to both streaming services side-by-side with more than 10,000 hours of extra content for one affordable price.
As part of this partnership, Paramount Pictures’ feature films will remain available on Sky Cinema in the UK and will join Sky Cinema in Germany and Italy in 2022. Sky Q customers who don't subscribe to Sky Cinema will be able to subscribe to a standalone Paramount+ account as an add-on.
New shows and movies that'll become available throughout next year in the UK will include a collection of scripted, exclusive Paramount+ Originals and exciting new takes on iconic franchises, including HALO, The Offer, and the new iCarly series. As the international home of SHOWTIME, the service will offer The Man Who Fell to Earth, Ripley, Super Pumped, and American Gigolo, in addition to popular titles from ViacomCBS, such as Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years, Star Trek: Prodigy, and MTV Unplugged.
Following its launch in the UK, Paramount+ will also feature a collection of new movie premieres and fan favourites from Paramount Pictures such as films from the Mission Impossible and Transformer franchises.
