There is a new unicorn among startups in Europe
Manomano, an ecommerce born in France and aimed at gardening and home furnishing professionals, wants to expand in Spain and Italy and expects a thousand hires by the end of 2022

It was led by Dragoneer investment group, a new investor with the participation of other existing supporters: Temasek, General Atlantic, Eurazeo, Bpifrance. With $ 725 million raised in various rounds of funding eight years from the start, the scaleup founded by Philippe de Chanville and Christian Raisson, present on the Italian market since 2015, has achieved a valuation of $ 2.6 billion and of unicorn.Facing a 400 billion euro European market, where online penetration is stuck at 11% (7% in Italy), ManoMano has positioned itself as a vertical digital brand up to 100% growth in 2020, with 1.2 billion euros in turnover. The catalog has 10 million references and 3,600 selected partner sellers, with offers for both private and professional customers. In Italy, revenues amounted to 130 million euros and last year the platform dedicated to home professionals, ManoManoPro, was launched with the inauguration of ManoFulfillment, the first logistics center based in Cremona. On the basis of an agreement with Ice, the Agency for the promotion abroad and the internationalization of Italian companies in Paris, ManoMano will also create a showcase for 130 Made in Italy companies in the home design, plumbing and heating, garden, tools and electrical equipment, on its French platform.
To support its next expansion effort, the company plans to hire 1,000 people by the end of 2022, more than doubling its current workforce across Europe. "Our goal is to become the first platform for all DIY, gardening and home improvement projects, offering first-rate experience and advice to our European customers," explain de Chanville and Raisson. Currently, more than 800 collaborators from the Paris office manage international operations in France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, United Kingdom and Germany. In 2019 ManoMano joined the Next40, the index of the most promising and potential startups of French Tech.
