The Masters of the Universe: Revelation story trailer

The Masters of the Universe

Late yesterday afternoon, Netflix released the Masters of the Universe: Revelation story trailer. This is an extended trailer (over a minute longer than the previous teaser) that offers a deeper look at the overall plot. In fact, remember that Masters of the Universe: Revelation is a full-fledged sequel. We will find Prince Adam, heir to the royal family of Eternia, wielding the Sword of Power that allows him to transform into the He-man champion and defend the kingdom from the evil Skeletor. Kevin Smith, however, has confirmed that one of the goals of the series is to expand the mythology and characters in an unusual and freer way than that of the animated series of the 80s.

Masters of the Universe: Revelation will debut on Netflix with the first 5 episodes of the first season on July 23rd . The series is developed by Powerhouse Animation (Castlevania).

Kevin Smith said:

In 27 years of work, this is undoubtedly one of the top 5 of my favorite projects. When I die people will remember me as the guy who made Clerks but I hope someone also says "yeah, he's the guy who made Clerks but also that animated series".

And here's the story trailer:

This is the caption that accompanies it:

The final battle begins. Will the Guardians of Grayskull save Eternia and the fate of the entire Universe? The end is only the beginning.

Alongside Kevin Smith, in the role of showrunner and screenwriter, will be veteran Rob David who had recently written the He-Man and The Masters of the Universe comics for DC and will also be in charge of the prequel comic to be released in July in the United States for Dark Horse, for details find our article.

David and Smith wanted to pay homage to the original series while striving to tell this epic fantasy / science fiction saga with an eye for a new and mature audience. Smith sat down with director Ted Biaselli to be able to instill the same tone in the series:

I told him: "When I was a kid and I was watching the series I was really convinced that Skeletor was on the verge of winning" Masters of the Universe: Revelation has that same tension and tone. I don't want a paradia, a tribute or a deconstruction. I want something Shakespearean.

There are also three additions to the rich vocal cast of the series. These are Dennis Haysbert, Adam Gifford and Jay Tavare who will play King Grayskull, Vikor and Wundar respectively.

The voice cast of Netflix's Masters of the Universe: Revelation is made up of Mark Hamill (Star Wars, Batman: The Animated Series) as Skeletor, Lena Headey (Game of Thrones, 300) as Evil -Lyn, Chris Wood (Supergirl, The Vampire Diaries) as Prince Adam / He-Man, Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer , Cruel Intentions) as Teela, Liam Cunningham (Game of Thrones, Clash of the Titans) as Man-At-Arms, Stephen Root (Office Space, Barry) as Cringer, Diedrich Bader (Office Space, Napoleon Dynamite) as King Randor / Trap Jaw, Griffin Newman (The Tick, Vinyl) as Orko, Tiffany Smith (Behind Enemy Lines, Supernatural) as Andra, Henry Rollins (Johnny Mnemonic, Lost Highway) as Tri-Klops and Alan Oppenheimer (the original Skeletor) (West world, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe) as Moss Man.

Susan Eisenberg (Wonder Woman, Justice League) as the Sorceress, Alicia Silverstone (Clueless, Batman & Robin) as Queen Marlena, Justin Long (Galaxy Quest, Live Free or Die Hard) as Roboto, Jason Mewes (Clerks, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back) as Stinkor, Phil LaMarr (Mad TV, Justice League) as He-Ro, Tony Todd (Candyman, Star Trek: The Next Generation) as Scare Glow, Cree Summer (DC Super Hero Girls, Vampirina) as the priestess, Kevin Michael Richardson (The Batman, ThunderCats ) as Beast Man, Kevin Conroy (Batman: The Animated Series, Crisis on Infinite Earths) as Mer-Man and Harley Quinn Smith (Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot) as Ileena .
