Refrigerator Full of Heads, DC's Hill House Comics returns in October
Refrigerator Full of Heads
A saying states "those who do not die, see themselves" and this is what is happening with the DC Comics horror story. A little over two years ago, in fact, it was stated that writer Joe Hill (N0S4A2, Locke & Key) was at the head of a new line of horror comics from the DC brand. Named Hill House Comics, the line was supposed to include comics by Hill himself, but also by other creators of the caliber of Carmen Maria Machado and Mike Carey. The Hill House brand's initial comic series, composed by Basketful of Heads, The Low Low Woods, The Dollhouse Family, Daphne Byrne and Plunge, is now over, but be prepared as more will come. EW, exclusively, has announced that Basketful of Heads, originally written by Hill with drawings by LEOMACS, is about to receive a new series with an even more terrifying title: Refrigerator Full of Head s.
Refrigerator Full of Head s: the statements of the authors
Hill, in this regard, declared:“I knew that Basketful of Heads' ax would not remain on the bottom of the Atlantic for a long time. As I chatted about possible sequel ideas with novelist Rio Youers, he pitched me a gonzo-action-horror story that would make Sam Raimi cry bloody tears of joy. I can't wait to see Rio and the prodigy artist Thomas Fowler stack heads in the fridge. This will be a new return! ”.
Written by Youers and with drawings by Fowler, Refrigerator Full of Head s will bring readers back to Brody Island, years after a mysterious ax wreaked havoc during the 1983 hurricane described in the previous series . Vacationing couple Calvin Beringer and Arlene Fields soon come face to face with some of Brody's nastier aspects - besides that ax, there's also a new sheriff in town, new visitors and a dangerous great white shark spotted offshore. of the coast. Here is the first official cover created by artist Sam Wolfe Connelly:
Fowler, who previously became famous for illustrating Books of Magic for DC's Sandman Universe line, said:
“I love horror and have rounded its edges in my work for a number of years now. It was great to insert it sporadically to see where it took me. I mean, in what other book will I ever be able to write on the margins of the layout with face pieces and skulls that pop out Midsommar style? ”.
The first issue, of six in total, of Refrigerator Full of Head s will arrive on October 19th, just in time for Halloween. Other DC horror offerings this fall, but from the dedicated DC Horror line, will include a comic based on The Conjuring franchise and a new series called Soul Plumber from The Last Podcast on the Left which hosts Marcus Parks, Henry Zebrowski and Ben Kissel.
We also remember that DC Comics has announced two new terrifying comics where the most beloved heroes will appear. It is not even the first time that some heroes of the DC Comics universe have clashed against otherworldly forces. On Amazon you could buy the rare volume Superman and Batman Vs. Vampires and Werewolves.
DC’s HILL HOUSE Returns With ‘Refrigerator Full of Heads’
Expanding The Lore of ‘Basketful of Heads’ In A Glorious, Grindhouse TaleThis October, heads will roll— again.
From writer Rio Youers (The Forgotten Girl; Lola on Fire) and artist Tom Fowler (Books of Magic) comes the first in a new wave of Hill House titles from DC.
On October 19th, REFRIGERATOR FULL OF HEADS will bring readers back to bloody Brody Island. At the bottom of the bay, the mysterious axe that unleashed violent pandemonium during the hurricane of ’83 has been waiting… but nothing that powerful stays buried.
With a new sheriff, new visitors, and a dangerous Great White Shark spotted off the coast, the pieces are all in place for terror to rise again when vacationing couple Calvin Beringer and Arlene Fields stumble onto the wrong side of Brody’s unsavory elements.
“Joe Hill set the bar incredibly high with Basketful of Heads, and we're building on that, expanding on it.” Said writer Rio Youers. “The axe is back, bringing all the horror, humor, and mayhem--so much mayhem--with it. We've got a few more surprises lined up, too, some crazy, off-the-wall happenings. Honestly, I cannot wait to get this comic into readers' hands.'
Artist Tom Fowler also pointed out just some of what horror fans can look forward to. “I love horror and I’ve been skirting around the edges of it in my work for a number of years now. Usually in the spaces where it bleeds into comedy and fantasy. It’s been a blast just letting it in and seeing where it takes me.” He added, “I mean, in what other book will I ever get to write into the margins of the layouts, ‘bits of face and skull peel and unfold Midsommar-style.’? Let alone one about refrigerator maintenance?”
Hill House architect and Basketful of Heads writer Joe Hill added, 'I knew the axe from Basketful of Heads wouldn't stay at the bottom of the Atlantic for long. I was goofing on possible sequel ideas with the novelist Rio Youers and he pitched me a gonzo-action-horror story that would make Sam Raimi weep happy tears of blood. I can't wait to see Rio and wunderkind artist Thomas Fowler stacking some cold ones in the fridge. This one is going to be a ride.'
Refrigerator Full of Heads is an off-the-wall delight, with moments that could only happen in the panels of a Hill House comic. Readers will not want to miss where this story goes! Issue one of six will be available in comic book shops on October 19.
