All the winners of the 2021 Eisner Awards
They have finally been announced in the winners of the Eisner Awards 2021, one of the most prestigious awards given in the comic book, dedicated to Will Eisner, in honor of his great contribution in the field.
This year they were held at the Comic-Con virtual convention and it was former Justice League student Phil LaMarr who announced the winners on the evening of July 23. By clicking on our article you can review all the nominations.
Laura Allred wins best colorist award for her work X-Ray Robot, Bowie: Stardust, Rayguns & Moonage Daydreams and Stan Sakai with Usagi Yojimbo wins for best letterer. Finally, the single writer award goes to Junji Ito for Remina, Venus in the Blind Spot.
Going to children's reading, the winner is Our Little Kitchen, by Jillian Tamaki, in those for the boys Superman Smashes the Klan, by Gene Luen Yang and Gurihiru who also wins in the best adaptation category from another medium, and in those dedicated to adolescence Dragon Hoops, by Gene Luen Yang (First Second / Macmillan).
Il first place in the best anthology category goes to Menopause: A Comic Treatment, edited by MK Czerwiec while Kent State: Four Dead in Ohio, by Derf Backderf comes first in the non-fiction category. The Loneliness of the Long-Distance Cartoonist, by Adrian Tomin wins in the best comic biography category.
In the best graphic novel category (unpublished) comes first Pulp by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips while in the best graphic novel category ( re-edition) wins Seeds and Stems, by Simon Hanselmann and in the best US edition of international works category comes first oblin Girl, by Moa Romanova, translated by Melissa Bowers.
Remina, by Junji Ito, translated by Jocelyne Allen vince in the best US edition of international works category (Asia), The Flapper Queens: Women Cartoonists of the Jazz Age, curated by Trina Robbins, wins in the best category re-proposing old works (strips) and The Complete Hate, by Peter Bagge, edited by Eric Reynolds wins in the best comic-book re-proposition category.
As for the best comic book publication to vince Women Write About Comics, edited by Nola Pfau and Wendy Browne, www.WomenWriteAboutComics.com, The winner of the best essay on comics is Invisible Men: The Trailblazing Black Artists of Comic Books, by Ken Quattro while The Content of Our Caricature: African American Comic Art and Political Belonging, by Rebecca Wanzo wins as best academic essay on comics.
The Loneliness of the Long-Distance Cartoonist, design by Adrian Tomine and Tracy Huron, and in that of best digital comic wins Friday, by Ed Brubaker and Marcos Martin.
