Nintendo Switch Pro, GameStop may have unveiled the official name
Nintendo Switch Pro
While the last few months have been filled with leaks and rumors, as was the case with Battlefield 2042, few companies have been in the sights of insiders like Nintendo. The rumors that the announcement of the upcoming Nintendo Switch Pro continue despite the absence of actual official revelations from the Kyoto house. However, more and more leakers are referring to this possibility, making it difficult not to believe that news is in the pipeline. In the last few hours, however, many users are reporting on the forums that GameStop may have revealed in advance the name of the new console of the Grande N. "New" is the key adjective, since the official name of Nintendo Switch Pro could instead be "New Nintendo Switch". This comes out of a page in the US division of GameStop dedicated to a promotion where customers can get additional credit for the purchase of a new console when they bring back an old one.
What leaves everyone doubtful is the capital letter to the word "New", since it seems to be placed directly in the name of the console rather than to represent an adjective. In addition, in the area dedicated to the detailed information of the offer, "New Nintendo Switch" is not accompanied by any article, confirming the hypothesis that they want it as the complete title of the platform. We would like to specify that this whole thing could be a simple misunderstanding due to typos, which is why we advise you to take this news with a grain of salt.

The offer is valid from June 13 to 19, all the more reason to believe that, in case the whole thing isn't a big mistake on the part of the American retailer, the announcement is really behind the angle. Moreover, the word "New" had previously been used by Nintendo to name the revision of the 3DS. For this reason, it would not be wrong to expect the same treatment to be reserved for the Nintendo Switch Pro as well.
The possibilities that New Nintendo Switch may be revealed during the Nintendo Direct of E3 2021 are very concrete indeed. We remind you, in fact, that the event will be held on June 15 at 18:00, and that we at sportsgaming.win will follow it live on our YouTube channel. Stay tuned to our site, however, so as not to miss news, previews and editorials from the conferences scheduled in the next few hours.

Everyone Thinks GameStop Just Leaked The ‘New Nintendo Switch’

Getty ImagesSitting around waiting for Nintendo to announce the Nintendo Switch Pro has been bizarre, as the theory that they were going to reveal it before their E3 show is about to expire, given that it’s tomorrow and that means they’d have to suddenly reveal the hardware…today.
But a new listing has many people saying that GameStop has leaked the new system, called “New Nintendo Switch” in a recent ad. But I’m not so sure.
The ad is below, and has two mentions of the console.
GameStop
GameStopIt says:
“$50 Extra Credit when you trade select systems toward purchase of a New Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite or Xbox Series X/S.”
And then:
“Offer valid on systems traded toward purchase of New Nintendo Switch/Nintendo Switch Lite or Xbox Series X/S.”
Nintendo, of course, does name its hardware stupid things like New 3DS, so New Nintendo Switch doesn’t seem out of the question as a potential name. The first line seems like it could just be a capitalization error on GameStop’s part, but the second line doesn’t really make grammatical sense unless “New Nintendo Switch” is a fully proper noun, as there’s no article before it. They also list “Nintendo Switch” without the “New” elsewhere.
The thing that catches my eye, however, is that this promotion is only running from 6/13 to 6/19. 6/13 is today and we are living in a world where the New Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch Pro is not announced or able to be pre-ordered. Again, for this to make sense, Nintendo would have to reveal the New Nintendo Switch literally today.
We know that Nintendo is making new hardware, a 4K capable Switch with an OLED screen. But the question is when they’re going to announce and launch it, and the longer this goes, the less likely it seems that it will arrive for holiday 2021. We are already starting to get into weird territory where Ubisoft’s Mario + Rabbids game at their show yesterday looked really good running on the Switch, presumably the new hardware, but that wasn’t said explicitly. And Nintendo has already said that tomorrow’s show will be about software only, so where does that leave us?
The fact is no, Nintendo does not need new hardware because the current Switch is still selling out almost everywhere. And it would be a bit odd to launch brand new hardware during a global component shortage that will make availability even more scarce. But something weird is happening with all this, and it’s crazy to think that a legitimate theory is that Nintendo could be about to spring a new console announcement on us today with zero warning. I just don’t think that’s going to happen, but that’s where the theorizing is at this point.
