There is still a major bottleneck on the graphics card market, which has made all graphics card series for gaming PCs significantly more expensive since last fall. We published a detailed special on the difficult situation at the end of May, when the prices of almost all graphics cards were at least twice as high as in autumn or when they were released. At the moment there is a little bit of relaxation, as we will see later, but really only to a small extent. The graphics cards from AMD and Nvidia, which have been newly released since September, continue to cost significantly more than at their respective releases.

It is difficult to estimate the price-performance ratio. We have therefore subjected the top 10 graphics cards, which also include the two new Nvidia models, to an analysis that shows you the price in euros per FPS. In addition, we will generally take a brief look at the overall graphics card market, which includes the current prices. But first we take a look at the technology and the pricing of the two new Nvidia graphics cards.

Prices and technical data

As far as the release version of Nvidia is concerned, the prices of the two new cars were at 619 and 1199 euros respectively. The GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is therefore - in theory - 120 euros more expensive than the normal RTX 3070. That corresponds to a 25 percent surcharge.

The RTX 3080 Ti in turn costs a whopping 500 euros more than the normal RTX 3080 (plus about 72 percent) and 300 euros less than the RTX 3090 (15 percent less). What we don't know, of course, is to what extent Nvidia is anticipating bottleneck prices with the high price of the RTX 3080 Ti. But what does the technology look like? Since the GPU of the RTX 3080, 3080 Ti and 3090 is each the GA102 and the clock rates of the three graphics cards are similar, the shader units offer themselves as a first comparison variable - here the difference between the RTX 3080 Ti and 3090 is only small, but from the RTX 3080 to 3080 Ti is already quite high at almost 18 percent. For the price, however, the fact that the new RTX 3080 Ti has 2GB more than the RTX 3080, but only half as much RAM as the RTX 3090, namely 12GB GDDRX RAM, is quite disappointing. However, it is suspected that an RXT 3070 Ti should not be stronger than a moderately overclocked RTX 3070. As with the non-Ti version, Nvidia is a bit frugal with RAM and offers 8GB of RAM, but in contrast to the non-Ti version, at least the faster GDDRX instead of just GDDR RAM.
