Uncharted 5: Wishes for the action adventure for PS5
Uncharted 5
The rumor mill is simmering - well, it always does and on almost every topic. Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 will be released in 2021, the Gears of War makers are working on a Star Wars game, the PS6 will be released in 2022 and can do your tax return. One of these rumors could have come from me, but who knows, maybe it will come true?A certain rumor that has been circulating in the last few weeks, however, led me to this column, namely which is very realistic, regardless of whether there is something to this particular alleged leak: Allegedly, a new Uncharted is being worked on.

Let me put it this way: Sure we do, Sony would be pretty stupid to let one of the most valuable and popular in-house brands go to waste. On the one hand there are wishes, on the other hand there are scenarios that I can imagine. And thirdly, I also say what I definitely don't want to see in the hypothetical Uncharted 5. It doesn't work completely without negativity!
Also a warning: Small spoilers for the Uncharted games cannot be avoided.

Enough draket
Uncharted 5: Wishes to the action adventure for PS5 ( 8) Source: Sony And let's start with a "don't want to": Please don't continue the story of Nathan Drake. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of the character. The good reputation of the developer studio Naughty Dogs is no coincidence, they have a couple of famous writers on the team who have created understandable, personable, simply really great characters, above all Drake. But: His story was basically told to the end with part 3. Uncharted 4 (buy now € 16.90), an epilogue so to speak, only worked because the script is just as good. "Nathan will be called back into the adventure in his early 60s," but I really don't need that now.Sure, Nathan shouldn't be deleted from the story. He is welcome to appear, be it as a pure cameo or as a secondary character, similar to his brother Sam in The Lost Legacy.
Along with that, I wish for ...
Female main characters
Uncharted 5: Wishes for the action adventure for PS5 (5) Source: PC Games Even if Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is not the strongest part of the saga - as far as the main characters are concerned, it is very high up. Chloe and Nadine are insanely well-written characters, and their dynamism is terrific. Without reaching into the cliché box in the slightest, the writers provide a different, more interesting perspective than before thanks to the feminine character. As much as I appreciate Joel in Last of Us and Last of Us 2 (please don't equate with like!), more interesting are the women in the game - Tess, Abby, Dina, of course Ellie. Obviously, the writers have even more talent for figure drawing here. That's why I would be happy about a Lost Legacy 2, but I don't insist on it: Nathans and Elenas Fisher, Cassie, would certainly work wonderfully as a young adventurer.

Sony is reportedly working on a remake of The Last of Us for PS5. Information about a new Uncharted has also emerged. PS4 0Uncharted 4: Easter Egg links game with The Last of Us 2
A fan has found another Easter Egg for The Last of Us Part 2 in Uncharted 4. This is a pill bottle. var lstExcludedArticleTicker = '1372118,1370679,1370033,1369150'; All this provided that ...Naughty Dog as developer
Uncharted 5: Wishes for the action adventure for PS5 (7) Source: Sony Uncharted: Golden Abyss for the Playstation Vita (when will there be a console version?) was a very good game. Competently developed by the days-gone-makers Bend Studio, really damn pretty for a handheld game, nicely written. But: You can tell at any point in time that the thing comes from a different developer than the main series. Without being able to put your finger on it, everything seems a little "off".If you haven't played Golden Abyss, you might be able to get an idea of what it is with Batman: Arkham Origins, which is available on more platforms I mean: a great, independent adventure (and, like Golden Abyss, funnily enough, also a prequel), but still not on par with the other Arkham games from Rocksteady.
That’s why, and especially because it’s rumored that the next Uncharted should be created at a new studio: please don't. In my opinion, Uncharted is so tied to Naughty Dog that the outcome would inevitably suffer without their involvement.
But Naughty Dog is not perfect either. And that's why I wish ...
More coherent tension curve
Uncharted 5: Wishes for the action adventure for PS5 (4) Source: Moby Games The Uncharted games are like blockbuster films , when there are people who also have a clue of storytelling. What films, and the titles of the series, are often referred to as playable films, but have the edge over naughty dog adventures: They don't have to fill twelve to fifteen hours with action, but only two to three hours. And no Uncharted game has managed to get along here completely without a hangover. In Uncharted 2 it's the action cascade on the way to Tibet, in Uncharted 4 it's the somewhat pointless open area, and in Uncharted 3 it's Uncharted 3.For me, the next Uncharted can be a bit crisp and compact be - not quite as short as Lost Legacy, but without the not too extensive, but noticeable filler of the other adventures. Or it is possible to keep the impressive playing time of an Uncharted 4, but without B-tier passages. I would of course prefer it!
Speaking of B-Tier ...
Revised climbing gameplay
Uncharted 5: Wishes to the action adventure for PS5 (6) Source: Sony The shootings were perfected in Uncharted 4, as was the simple but satisfying stealth. I also like the puzzles the way they are. What is getting on in years, however, is the climbing gameplay of the series. At the beginning it still looked fresh, although it was already more limited than in Prince of Persia, for example. But now we have the Tomb Raider reboot trilogy, well done in that regard, we have Zelda: Breath of the Wild, we have Assassin's Creed, which has also undergone a huge shift in the way it crawls around. In Uncharted The swing hook was introduced in part 4, which is fun and every now and then there were these sliding passages, but on the whole the climbing still feels like in the first Uncharted: exactly one place where you can get up, which is marked in color and every now and then something tears off and you fall down.
I don't know if a "You can climb anywhere" approach like in Breath of the Wild or the new Aussassin's Creeds is the right way to go, but at least one should move away from the standard formula. She has a beard and is little more than killing time between the more interesting gameplay moments.
Speaking of Assassin's Creed ...
No open world!
Uncharted 5: Wishes for the action adventure for PS5 (3) Source: buffed I already mentioned the somewhat pointless open world passage in Uncharted 4, there was one in Lost Legacy as well. If it has to be, there should be something like this again, but then please make it more interesting. What I definitely do not want: Uncharted to become an open world series. An open jungle, old ruins, secondary and main missions: Uncharted is too suitable for a corresponding corset to be above it has not yet been considered by those responsible. As I recently said in a special: Not everything has to be open world, and Uncharted lives from its linearity, that the games have clearly defined beginnings and ends. Regardless of whether Naughty Dog is working on it or another studio: Please don't succumb to the open-world temptation!
And that's it. I have many other ideas and wishes as to how Uncharted 5 could / should look like, but these are more detailed ideas or those that conflict with other, even more important to me (Sully as the main character! Uncharted in Space! Uncharted 5 exclusively as Pachinko machine!).
Last but not least, what I want before all other things: Just a new Uncharted, because I'm slowly starting to feel unpleasant withdrawal symptoms. It's time, Sony!
