God of War Ragnarok: artist speculates what it might be like to play as Atreus

Speaking on a recent God of War podcast, a SIE Santa Monica Studio concept artist - Samuel Matthews - speculated how one might play as Atreus within God of War Ragnarok (and more broadly in future. chapters).

The artist from SIE Santa Monica explained that there are a few possibilities, one of which is to separate the two characters and send them in different directions for a while. Matthews, jokingly, then states that the player would do nothing but shoot arrows with Atreus: of course, it wouldn't be very interesting unless you change something about the character.




The speech also arises from the fact that Naughty Dog has done something similar with The Last of Us. In the first chapter we have a phase in which we play as Ellie, while in the second chapter there is a whole part of the game with another character. Could God of War do something similar with a future chapter?

Obviously, as mentioned, this is a hypothesis, a pure speculation of the artist designed to make the speech more interesting during the podcast. This is in no way a confirmation that Atreus will be a playable character in God of War Ragnarok. Moreover, this leads us to think that it will not happen, as the SIE Santa Monica artist certainly would not have started talking about the subject with such tranquility.

Waiting for new details on the game, please note that the release date may have been postponed to 2022: Jason Schreier suggests it.
