Does PES 2022 change its skin? New name on the horizon
The Pro Evolution Soccer series (more commonly known as PES) could be close to a very important renewal. After the year off this year, with the title that came out exclusively in the form of an update at a reduced price, the football series from Konami would seem ready to return with some news regarding the name and of course the classic logo .
As early as 2006, Konami actually changed the name of the title. From the complete one, in fact Pro Evolution Soccer passed to the most used in the common language, or PES. For some time, however, the Japanese publisher and developer has begun to support the nomenclature "eFootball", to indicate precisely virtual football. And it seems that the latter name can replace the now international brand. How do we know? Thanks to the registration of a trademark at the office in charge, as evidenced by a tweet that you find a little further down.
According to the current information in our possession, therefore, next year PES may no longer appear in stores . In its place you could find eFootball, to emphasize virtual football. The logo would appear to be practically identical to the one already used for the previous versions of the football simulator. It would be an epochal change, which would consequently mark a change of historical step. The series, in fact, like FIFA, is one of the best known internationally, although in reality at the brand level there has always been a bit of confusion based on the various areas of the world, with the first titles that in Japan continued to maintain the Winning Eleven nomenclature, even at the moment of the franchise's greatest popularity.

At present, of course, there is still no evidence of this change of nomenclature. On the other hand, Konami has not yet formalized the next chapter of the series and it is good to remember that the trademark was registered a year ago. Surely there will be news in sight for the next PES: in addition to the possible name change, in fact, the game will return this year with an edition designed for next-gen consoles and for next-generation PCs. Virtual football, unlike real football, never stops. We will update you as soon as there are official details about the next chapter of the made in Konami franchise, so stay tuned with us for all the upcoming information.
PES 2020 (with update to 2021 via virtual DLC on the Store ) can be yours on Amazon in PS4 version.
