Call of Duty Warzone: Patch Notes for Season 3 Reloaded - that's in Update 1.37

Call of Duty Warzone

The Season 3 Reloaded Update is available for download for Call of Duty Warzone. As Raven Software announces, the patch 1.37 is now available for PC and consoles. The update appeared one day after the release of the corresponding mid-season update for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The developers use their website to share the changes and innovations in the Warzone update. Many details were already known: The focus is on the film heroes Rambo and John McClane from the 1980s - in keeping with the current setting of the Battle Royale shooter. The two operators are available as bundles in the in-game shop until June 19.

At the start of Season 3 Reloaded, a new in-game event about the film heroes will also go live. Two sets with nine challenges each are available in both Warzone and Black Ops Cold War. If you complete the nine challenges in Cold War, you unlock a blueprint for a tactical rifle. A blueprint for a sniper rifle is waiting for you at Warzone. Also new is the time-limited Power Grab mode, in which you kill opponents, complete contracts and locate supply boxes to find dog tags. You need the latter in order to rise in the ranking. There is no gulag here. Instead, comrades can be resuscitated.

Call Of Duty: Warzone’ Has Now Banned Half A Million Cheaters

Call of Duty Warzone

Activision

This week, Raven Software has announced that after banning an addition 30,000 “malicious accounts” from Call of Duty Warzone, that has brought the grand total for banned cheaters up to 500,000 since the launch of the mode.

For context, Call of Duty: Warzone recently announced that it had hit 100 million players, which I assume is total registered players, not like, daily active, but still, impressive. So 500,000 would be half a percent of the grand total, but all it takes is a single cheater in a match to ruin an entire session, which is why it’s been such a problem.

The announcement tweet has a long string of Twitter users under it complaining that they have been unjustly banned. Many claim that their account was hacked, and then the hacker went on to use hacks on their profile which got them unduly banned. While I suppose that isn’t impossible, I have been around long enough to know that when you see players vehemently complaining about an unjustified ban, there’s usually a 90% chance the developer can dig up receipts to show that it was, in fact, justified. But I mean sure, in 500,000 bans there were probably a few false positives in there.

Call of Duty: Warzone is going to remain an important part of Activision’s COD ecosystem for a long while to come, and we seem to have settled into a pattern where the game is able to change itself to a certain extent to reflect the new release of the fall, as we saw with the recent Verdansk map change. While Call of Duty as a series continues to print money with new releases, Warzone, with its 100 million players, is another large revenue stream for Activision as players pay for battle passes and microtransactions in the free to play mode. Lately, we’ve seen the game channeling Fortnite a bit with licensed characters like Jigsaw and the upcoming Rambo and John McClane skins.

As for cheating, you will never erase all cheaters from your game unless you’re on a platform like Google Stadia where it’s pretty much physically impossible to cheat. But for consoles and especially PC, this will keep happening in the eternal arms race of cheaters versus anti-cheat and the banhammer. There have been some very, very low points in Warzone history where cheaters have ruined the game for long stretches, but it’s a constant fight and you can’t say they’re doing nothing with half a million accounts banner. That is…significant, and more than we’ve heard from most other big games with cheating problems.
