Assassin’s Creed Valhalla lays the foundations for the next chapters
Over the years, the Assassin's Creed series has deviated slightly from the path originally taken, also thanks to an evolution of third-person action video games. For several years, in fact, all developers have continued to include role-playing elements within their games and this is a choice that rewards not only sales but also the judgments of specialized critics. Ubisoft obviously knows this well and that is why it has decided to continue on this path with one of its flagship franchises, that is the story of Assassins and Templars.
As reported during the last conference call for shareholders and investors, the French Canadian publisher and developer said upcoming Assassin's Creed games will be built with RPG elements. A bit like what happened now with the last three iterations of the saga, namely Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla. The foundations will be taken from the latter to be able to build the next titles that will see the light in the course of the new generation of consoles.
We declared, at the beginning of the news, that this is the strategy undertaken by some year by the market. Ubisoft also knows this well, so much so that it declared it during the call to present the financial results of the last fiscal year. In particular, Assassin's Creed Valhalla was one of the most important launches in financial terms for the series, so it is natural that we move towards this type of game design.
At present, however (and it should be remembered) there is still no official announcement from Ubisoft regarding the next Assassin's Creed. The series no longer debuts every year and the time between the release of one chapter and the other continues to increase. It will be the same for the next one and considering that Valhalla debuted during the fall of 2020, it will therefore take a while to find out what the next chapter of the series will be.
