The 2021 STEMintheCity marathon has started
The #STEMINTHECITY 2021 marathon has been officially presented: three days, from 21 to 23 April, in which through the steminthecity.eu platform it will be possible to access over 155 free events to learn about the world of STEM disciplines with workshops, interviews, testimonials and webinar.
The initiative of the Municipality of Milan - organized in collaboration with important public and private sector entities and with the support of the United Nations - to promote access to study paths and technical-scientific professions , reaches its fifth edition this year.
A journey that began in 2017 with events spread throughout the metropolitan area and which last year, following the health emergency, became digital. A necessity which the event has made a virtue of, managing, also thanks to the partnerships activated, to go beyond the city limits and making its contents available to anyone, anywhere.
This year's edition , entitled “Of course STEM. For a sustainable and digital future ", emphasizes two central issues for society: on the one hand the digital revolution that is affecting all production sectors and all areas of our life and on the other the environment that we are called to protect in order to guarantee our well-being and that of future generations.
The collaboration with the Milano-Bicocca University with 'Il Bosco delle STEM' - a laboratory for the training of new scientists and female scientists - a tree will be planted for each class participating in an event of the event that will favor the development of the green area of the Bosco.
«We started this journey five years ago and we are very proud of the results achieved, despite the strong changes that our company has experienced in the last year ».
"Thanks to the synergies with our partner ecosystem, we were able to involve many schools in Milan and the Metropolitan City and in the rest of Italy. The 155 events of the Marathon and all the appointments of the Month of STEM are the testimony of how new digital technologies are considered positive and enabling factors for an inclusive society without stereotypes ".
" The most important challenge of this time is sustainability: to achieve the goal of a society that truly cares for the environment that surrounds it, we need young generations of scientists and the fundamental contribution of innovation "said Roberta Cocco, Councilor for Digital Transformation and to the Civic Services of the Municipality of Milan.
The central moment of the STEM Marathon is the Celebration Conference, live online on the STEMintheCity website on April 22nd at 11.00 am, with the participation of exceptional testimonials that will inspire female students and students with their stories of courage and determination that have enabled them to achieve ambitious goals in different sectors.
