Menlo Park have identified numerous "specific threats to Mr. Zuckerberg". This is learned from a statement delivered to the Securities and Exchange Commission, the United States authority in charge of market control, by Facebook. Given that its CEO is often frowned upon by detractors of the social network and his personal or public choices, the company has decided to play ahead and invest more in the security intended for Zuck. The review annual corporate security programs showed that the costs dedicated to protecting Zuckerberg and his family increased in 2020 also due to travel protocols dictated by the pandemic situation in which the world population finds itself. Another reason that caused Zuckerberg's security costs to rise was the heated political climate during the 2020 election season and the platform's decisions against former President Donald Trump.
The statement delivered reads that “the Compensation, Nomination and Governance Committee believes these costs are appropriate and necessary in light of the threats and the fact that Mr. Zuckerberg has requested to receive only $ 1 of annual salary without receiving any payment of bonuses, stock bonuses or other incentive payments ". Likewise, the company says, Facebook's security services have increased their work of personal protection of top management.
