Veleno
Release: May 25, 2021On a night of July 1997, the police raid the house where Federico Scotta lives with his family. The authorities order the immediate removal of her two children aged 3 years and 6 months. Federico is accused of being part of a pedophile network and of having sexually abused his daughter and other children. Thus begins the story of "The Devils of the lower Modena" a series of cases of pedophilia and Satanism that will lead to the definitive removal of 16 children from their families.
Investigations reveal the existence of a sect led by a priest who practiced Satanic rituals in which children were forced to participate. The medico-legal appraisals nail the alleged members of the sect and, in June 2000, all the defendants in the maxi trial were sentenced in the first instance to long prison sentences, many of which were confirmed in subsequent degrees of trial. 20 years after the journalistic investigation by Pablo Trincia puts the whole story into question thanks to new shocking revelations. In contrast to the reconstruction of Trincia, a committee formed by foster families and by now adult children is born.
Meanwhile, in 2019, in the nearby village of Bibbiano, another sensational case breaks out: several social services consultants end up under investigation for having removed minors from their families. Is the "poison" still in circulation? Poison is a five-episode docu-series produced by Fremantle for Amazon Prime Video, written and directed by Hugo Berkeley.
