A quick review of the 2021 Oscar nominations
- 48 hours to the 93rd edition of the Academy Awards. Between superfavorites (Nomadland) and not exactly successful titles (Mank), two women in the running for Best Director (unfortunately this is still news) and some Italian candidacies (Laura Pausini above all), here's who can win
( Photo: Getty Images) Despite the black year of cinema, everything is now ready for the long night in Hollywood. Less than 48 hours before the 93rd edition of the Oscars, with very few big movies and the obsession on the future of the entertainment industry, forecasts are on the agenda. The superfavorite remains Nomadland, who with Francesc McDormand starts in pole position for the most important statuette. Continuing the trend already started at the Golden Globes, other titles with the highest number of nominations include A Promising Woman, The Chicago 7 Trial, The Father, Mank and Minari. Two female directors in the running for the statuette: Chloé Zhao and Emerald Fennell (note: never more than one woman had been nominated in the same year and only seven in all in almost 100 years of award). Italian nominations for Pinocchio by Matteo Garrone, who won two techniques (make-up and costumes), for Laura Pausini who, after winning the Globe, is also in the running for the Oscar with the song Io Sì (Seen) from the film La life ahead.Anyway, here are all the nominations for a quick review:
