Xbox Controller: Microsoft presents the new Electric Volt and Daystrike Camo colors

Microsoft has officially unveiled two new colors for Xbox controllers: Electric Volt and Daystrike Camo. Navin Kumar, head of the marketing section, stated that Microsoft's goal is to continue to create new designs to offer its customers an ever greater freedom of choice with its products.

Design Electric Volt is inspired by the "energy and vitality" that we can normally appreciate in sneakers and sportswear design, Kumar specified. "The vibrant yellow top is a stark contrast to the matte black hybrid D-pad, while the white on the back adds even more dimension to the design." The new pad will be on sale starting April 27 at a cost of $ 65 USD in "most" Xbox markets around the world.

Switching to the Daystrike Camo, which then joins the previous Night pads Ops Camo and Arctic Camo, we have an Xbox camouflage that "takes on a unique lifestyle touch in this new design. With a palette of deep reds, paired with gray and black, Daystrike Camo brings with it a streetwear vibe. Includes even the standard features of the new Xbox Wireless Controllers such as the Share button, the hybrid D-pad and the textured grip on the triggers. " The pad is the only one offered by Microsoft to have grip on the entire upper surface of the triggers, and will be available on the market starting May 4 at a cost of $ 70 USD.

Microsoft has also specified that both pads have been made using recycled resins: "Both controllers will contain a portion of resins made with recycled materials deriving from car headlight covers, plastic water jugs and CD. There are no quality compromises expected from these recycled materials, as they can provide the usual durability and performance that is expected, as demonstrated by our tests. Microsoft calls them Electric Volt and Daystrike Camo, but that’s not important. What is important is there are two new Xbox wireless controllers coming out next month, both sporting candy-colored analog sticks I want to chew right out of their housings.

The Xbox Design Lab is still on hiatus, so for the time being we’re at the mercy of Microsoft when it comes to new Xbox wireless controller designs. This new pair, coming to stores at the end of April, isn’t too shabby. I’m partial to the Electric Volt, with its high contrast yellow bringing back memories of Gatorade gum, hence the impulse to chew the hell out of it. And just when it seems like too much yellow, the white back comes along to calm everyone down. Well done.

I am not a big camo fan, especially when it comes to colors that aren’t going to help anyone hide anywhere. What the Daystrike Camo model does having going for it is the textured grip extends over the triggers. It’s that sort of attention to detail that makes this model $69.99 to the Electric Volt’s $64.99.

In celebration of these two new colors, Microsoft is also releasing themed clothing for some reason.

This controller-inspired clothing is part of the new Xbox Icon Collection, which prominently features the word “Xbox” as well as some icons. It’ll be available in the Xbox Gear Shop starting April 21.
