Volvo will only produce electric cars by 2030
Among the big four-wheelers who are investing in a more sustainable form of mobility there is also Volvo which today officially confirms its intention to produce only electric cars by 2030. A declaration of intent written in black and white and defined by the company itself as an "ambitious deadline".
To continue to be successful, we need profitable growth. So instead of investing in a declining business, we have chosen to invest in the future, both electric and online. We are focusing our efforts on the goal of becoming a leader in the fast growing luxury electric segment.
What can be called the green turning point of the automaker has happened quite quickly : only a year and a half ago, on these pages, we reported the announcement of its first exclusively electric vehicle, the XC40 Recharge model, an SUV with sufficient autonomy to travel over 400 km with a single recharge operation.
Even more than those of the CEO, the words of Henrik Green, Chief Technology Officer, are interesting: the road is marked, traditional engines are destined for disposal.
There is no long-term future for cars with internal combustion engines. We are firmly committed to becoming an electric-only car manufacturer and the transition should take place by 2030. This will allow us to meet the expectations of our customers and actively contribute to the development of solutions to combat climate change.
Among the initiatives implemented in the recent past by Volvo we also remember those on the safety front: two years ago it was the first company in the sector to introduce the maximum speed limit of 180 km / h on all vehicles marketed.

The green turning point of Volvo: only electric cars
So go in less than ten years all models with an internal combustion engine and those with hybrid power. The strategy is supported from an economic point of view by a constantly growing market demand, planned with a view to farsighted development. Here is the comment from HÃ¥kan Samuelsson, CEO of the Swedish group. To continue to be successful, we need profitable growth. So instead of investing in a declining business, we have chosen to invest in the future, both electric and online. We are focusing our efforts on the goal of becoming a leader in the fast growing luxury electric segment.
