Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan Kenobi ‘has reoccurring role in another upcoming Star Wars show’
Andor: Diego Luna teases Disney+ Star Wars seriesEarlier this week, Lucasfilm announced that the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ show will begin shooting in April. Ewan McGregor, who turned 50 today, will reprise his Jedi Knight opposite Hayden Christensen’s Darth Vader – a decade after the events of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. But aside from this thrilling news, a report now claims that McGregor will also feature in another upcoming Star Wars Disney+ show.
According to The Illuminerdi, McGregor’s Obi-Wan will have a reoccurring role in Andor.
The 2022 Star Wars show follows Cassian Andor’s adventures five years before his death in Rogue One, during the formative years of the Rebellion.
Diego Luna plays the title characters with Genevieve O’Reilly reprising Mon Mothma after she featured in Episode III and Rogue One.
There are 19 years between Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope, in which Sir Alec Guinness first played Obi-Wan.

With this in mind, Andor takes place around four years after the events of the Obi-Wan Kenobi miniseries, so it makes sense for McGregor to continue playing the character.
As for what role his Jedi in exile could play, the outlet points out that he had a close relationship with Senator Bail Organa, so could be a key contributor of Rebellion Intelligence.
The adoptive father of Princess Leia was played by Jimmy Smits in Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith and Rogue One.

Additionally, Screen Rant speculates that if Obi-Wan leaves Tatooine during the two decades between the prequel and original trilogies, he’s likely to check in on the Rebel Alliance.
Since Cassian Andor is an intelligence officer, it would certainly make sense for them both to cross paths.
After all, Obi-Wan would need a go-between so as to protect the location of Luke Skywalker.
Meanwhile, McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi miniseries will be directed by Deborah Chow, who helmed two episodes of The Mandalorian’s first season.

Alongside McGregor and Christensen’s returning Darth Vader, Lucasfilm have announced the rest of the main cast.
Obi-Wan Kenobi will feature Moses Ingram Joel Edgerton, Kumail Nanjiani and Rupert Friend.
Plus Indira Varma, Bonnie Piesse, O’Shea Jackson Jr, Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie.
The official synopsis reads: “The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Kenobi faced his greatest defeat, the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.”
Last year, McGregor spoke of his excitement at reprising Obi-Wan in the new streaming miniseries.
Speaking with Empire, he said: “I'm more excited about doing this one than I was doing the second and third one that we did before.
“I'm just excited about working with Deborah Chow, and the storylines are going to be really good I think. I’m just excited to play him again. It's been long enough since I played him before.”
