Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods - id Software is teasing DLC 2
Doom Eternal
It was already apparent with the Doom reboot in 2016, but in Doom Eternal it became abundantly clear: id Software is once again placing great emphasis on story content and gripping single-game experiences. That is why it was known early on that Doom Eternal should get two DLC expansions in which the story of the main game will be continued. The first add-on The Ancient Gods: Part One has been available since October 2020 and seamlessly ties in with the brutal baller orgy. Now the second part could soon move up: id Software has teased Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods - Part Two on Twitter, and the campaign DLC will be unveiled with a trailer on March 15, 2021. There are no indications of a release date yet, but just seven months have passed between Doom Eternal and the first DLC. That raises hopes that The Ancient Gods - Part Two won't be long in coming either.Recommended editorial content At this point you will find external content from [PLATTFORM]. What can we expect in The Ancient Gods: Part Two? (Beware, spoilers!)
The first artwork could already reveal some information. Basically it is possible that this is just a flashback that shows a scene from the old war between Argent D'Nur and Hell. This would indicate, among other things, the many Guardian troops who oppose the armies of Hell - in Doom: Eternal, the Guardians actually have nothing more to report. It is of course conceivable that in The Ancient Gods: Part Two a new army will deploy to fight Hell back. The picture shows, among other things, portals through which apparently new fighters and ships storm the battlefield. The figure at the bottom left in the picture, carrying a purple hammer, is probably the traitor. Is he returning from exile or can you only see him here in a past battle? In the middle of the artwork you can see the Slayer fighting a heavily armored figure who has similar shoulder cannons to the Slayer himself. In addition, the figure wears an energy sword that suspiciously resembles the crucible blade. In the main game, the Slayer had used the mighty sword to defeat the Icon of Sin - the weapon may have been restored one more time with a new blade. In the picture, the Slayer not only has his melee blade, which he actually only got in Doom: Eternal (buy now), but also a powerful hammer - the hint of a new super weapon? The red armored opponent is likely to be the Dark Prince Davoth, the infernal counterpart to the Slayer, which we awoke ourselves at the end of The Ancient Gods - Part One.
It is still unclear whether The Ancient will also be Gods: Part One does without the main game or whether you have to own the first DLC. The Ancient Gods: Part One ran independently.

Good, fast, merciless: That was The Ancient Gods: Part One
In terms of play, the second story expansion is likely to include brutal, lightning-fast action that was already terrific in the main game and in The Ancient Gods: Part One can even add a notch. The first expansion includes three fantastically designed levels in which the game throws tons of enemies at us. The developers have exaggerated it a little for our taste, however, the claim on the normal level of difficulty is sometimes much too high and easily overshadows the main game. In the never-ending arenas, hordes of Marauders, Barons of Hell and other big chunks storm us, whoever does not show lightning-fast reflexes has no chance. In addition, there are some new types of opponents, such as a demonic ghost form, which makes action ballet even more difficult. Not to mention the tough final boss, whom we also cursed warmly in the test.Unfortunately, The Ancient Gods: Part One does not offer any new weapons or skills that could create equal opportunities; the game simply starts with a fully equipped slayer and then adds practically nothing to the arsenal.
It is precisely these two criticisms that The Ancient Gods: Part Two has to address from our point of view: New weapons, gadgets or upgrades for the slayer on the one hand, a fairer balance on the other. It would be a shame if even experienced Doom players could only experience the second expansion on the easiest level of difficulty because the stress factor was simply set too high on the normal level.
