Techland acquired by Microsoft and Xbox exclusive Dying Light 2? Here comes the denial!
As we continue to wait patiently for Dying Light 2 to return to the scene, a new rumor makes its way onto the web about Techland, the studio responsible for the zombie and parkour series, as the new target of Microsoft's acquisition campaign.

It is not the first time that such rumors have emerged: Microsoft would have turned its attention to the Polish development scene already at the end of 2019, but the first rumors that saw it specifically interested in Techland emerged at the beginning of 2020, the same period in which we began to talk about the alleged problems in the development of Dying Light 2. Techland was quick to deny it, but in the meantime a lot of water has passed under the bridges. Microsoft is preparing to shell out $ 7 billion to acquire ZeniMax / Bethesda (the green light from the European Commission is expected in early March), and according to many insiders it is considering a new acquisition.

Having made this necessary premise, let's get to the heart of the matter. In a recent episode of the Defining Duke podcast, youtuber and insider Jeremy Penter aka ACG said Microsoft is thinking of a major new acquisition and aiming for a major game exclusively for its platforms for 2021. After throwing this little bomb he did not provide any other details, but shortly after another insider thought to investigate his statements. According to Shpeshal, who has built some fame by revealing details about the Perfect Dark project and the acquisition of Gearbox by Embracer Group in advance, ACG was talking about Techland, ready to become part of the Xbox Game Studios family, and Dying. Light 2, which instead would be destined to be a Microsoft exclusive. Despite the excellent curriculum of the insider and the charm of certain speculations, his words obviously cannot be considered certain, so we advise you to take them with a grain of salt while waiting for confirmation or denial.

Update: the echo of the rumors that Techland acquired by Microsoft also quickly reached the ears of Community Manager Uncy, who was quick to deny them categorically through his Twitter profile: "I'm getting a lot of direct messages about the acquisition of Dying Light, so I'll answer you here: the same rumor was circulating on the internet a year ago, and the situation has not changed - Techland is an independent studio and has not been acquired by another publisher.
